in singapore, you can look for your GP and explain the situation to him and how you are going to use proscar. most GP will be willing to write a prescription for you. with the prescription, you can purchase it from most pharmacy. otherwise, you can drop by JB and buy from there.
proscar is the brand. i think you misunderstood proscar as a drug name. the drug name is finasteride and the brand is proscar.
you do understand propecia and proscar is basically the same drug just different in dosage right? most patient get the higher dosage proscar and cut it up to 4-5pieces to save cost.
Hey all. Long time reader of this forum, first-time poster. Thanks to all who post, in particular Isopropyl, who I think gives sound advice and helps us navigate all the snake-oil sellers who operate in this industry....
I've got two questions. Basically I've been taking Proscar (split in 1/4s) for around 3 years now. Where I'm from, my doctor will happily prescribe me 90 at a time, which will then last me around a year once split. However, in SG I've found it hard to find doctors who will prescribe me 5mg. At the doctor's today, for example, I was told prescribing 5mg would be "unethical", and he said that you can't split proscar tablets more than once (although I've been cutting it into pretty accurate 1/4s for the past 3 yrs). He was prepared to prescribe 1mg, but the cost is too much to bear.
Last year, after reading this forum, I went to JB and got some from a pharmacy there. No prescription required. But later in the year I tried to pick some up while I was in KL, and was told I'd need a prescription. Which made me wonder - can you still buy without prescription in JB???
Ideally I'd prefer to get prescription in SG though. Can anyone let me know of a doctor in SG who will prescribe Proscar? Doctors here seem pretty reluctant to, even though I try to reassure them that I will split it and be responsible with it...
Would love to hear from anyone who can answer those 2 questions for me.
Cheers and good luck to you all
