Nothing against gx. He’s been on this and watch thread like forever and known as a straight-talker.. furthermore doing well recent years with his grey biz.. So good on him.

such scams not the first and wont be the last.. just wish the best outcome for the victims and hope perpetuators get deserved punishment.
lol to be honest, people who wants to deal, be it anything that requires me to travel out of my way, i always ask for a very tiny deposit, to make sure you show up or if you don't, that amount can cover petrol and carpark.
why i do this, cause i kena a couple of no show and some suddenly change their mind or just simply wanna play games.
tiny deposit - 100-200 they not comfortable, i don't know how the hell Tradenation can get people to put 5-6 figures with them for a month.
that i gotta to salute them

no ah, you can buy from AD. but count properly. i always say, if you can count, AD also can count. afterall it's a business, they are out to earn your money.

you think AD dumb ah? they have the fattest profit margin. 35% for rolex alone.
end of the day, asking you buy a few sh1tter hublot that you don't want (yet cannot be caught flipping those) and you still have to wait 3-4 months to get your rolex (not even guaranteed, need check with manager, GM all those typical excuse), that's just dumb.

the money spent, including losses from those sh1tter you paid yet can't sell in the open + waiting time at AD, i just buy grey.

i myself, i only buy grey, don't like to wait, tio monitored and alibaba with AD sales rep (90% of them dont know sh1t about watches, see them explain watches, i wanna laugh).

personal experience, i spent 200-300k at cortina, only given a damn rootbeer and sub date 41mm.

i posted my old 40mm sub date for sale, the sales rep come to me, ask me why i sell their rolex.
LOL
i ask him open eyes and read what i am selling. i told him to fk off and they just lost my business.
(shows how clue-less they are)
sold the damn rootbeer and 41mm sub date too, see also dulan. bo kiam eng.

i not like you all, like to go down por lan pa. i got money i buy grey, i get immediately, i wear now. who knows, tomorrow might just die. at least i died spending the money my way, instead of waiting. LOL

sorry long wall of text but yea, if you like to por lan pa and wait, go the AD route, dont come here kpkb why AD play games etc.
I only knew today you are also a grey dealer. Chill, my post was more of saying, “ah now, I finally realised why you always advocate buying grey as you are also a grey dealer yourself”. Nothing offensive against you, no need such long explanation la

Hello,

Looking for some advice here regarding a pre-owned Rolex Batman 11670 (dated 2017) I purchased from a resale dealer at the start of this year.

Think during my purchase that time the market was still very hot so I paid about close to $30K for the watch. I was buying it for it's potential investment value.

However, seems like in recent months, the prices have dwindled significantly. Have sought advice from the dealer whom I purchased from in April and he mentioned that the prices will eventually go back to around the price I bought.

Another 3 months and I see the prices falling even more. And also with the newer 126 Batman in the market, not sure if the prices will continue to do a free fall.

Need some advice if I should just sell it off to cut my losses or continue to hold. At this point I am not looking to gain from the watch liao but just hope to re-coup as much as I can from the money I've paid for it.

Thank you in advance for all good advice.

I am a complete nub so please excuse my questions. Have a few (vintage?) Rolex watches in the family bought by elderly passed down, but I have no particular desire to keep or wear cus dk value also and dk how to appreciate.

should keep or is there a best way to offload safely? honestly I just don’t want his collection to go to waste also but it was passed to be “sold” in a way… any place to safely check pricing/value?

idm keeping too lah just can’t wear (I’m a girl rofl) or do anything with it, tbh just curious cus idk the value of it also, just dk where to start in all these.

thank you 🙇‍♀️

Anw my 2 cents:

from wat i read u seem to be in this purely to make a quick buck in a short time.. unfortunately u prob got in at height of the speculative bubble which is now correcting.. while prices should eventually appreciate, i highly doubt it will be at the pace we’ve seen (which i believe exceeds yr time horizon) u are better off cutting loss and putting yr money into a more realistic investment.. good luck!

Rolex is the most liquid watch brand for resale.. u go pawnshop or any 2nd hand watch shop, chances are u will get an offer readily.. issue is more of the price.. also certain models are more sought after than others..

would be helpful u post pics (close up
preferably) of the watches u have for the ppl here to get a sense..

The longer you hold the older your watch gets. Warranty probably just ended too right? My advice is to cut your losses to sell. That’s if there’s someone to buy from you at this juncture.

I have no specific time horizon actually. But as a newbie in this and seeing how the prices have dwindled significantly, I tend to be very kancheong and not sure if I should sell to cut my losses.

As per what I meantioned in my post earlier, I got it at a really high price like close to 30K for the Rolex Batman 11670 year 2017. With the newer Batman model in the market and based on current market conditions, not sure if price will continue to drop even further.

So appreciate all good advise based on your experiences here.

Thank you~~

you are one of the reason watches are pushed up
because easy money
use money earn more money
all the news article say watches more power than gold, stocks etc.
i always tell people, buy not because of the investment value. buy because you like it and you see yourself wearing it. if price go up, good. price go down, at least you enjoyed it.

usually, the more savvy collectors that store value is buy hard to pieces, brand new, throw inside safe and forget about it. they don't worry about the funds tied up.
30 years down the road, take out, give grandchildren or flip it when most of those pieces can't be found anymore.
