hi bros, i have a vintage datejust from my father which im intending to wear as he does not wear watches anymore. think it was last used 20+ years ago.

any recommendations for servicing? actually watch works fine, thinking to just do basic servicing, cleaning + replace the acrylic. east/central area recommendations? thinking to avoid polishing

Look for Bonfield, located at Tanglin Halt. They have established quite a reputation for themselves in this field, especially in Rolex vintage watches.

Hi bros, Is TPU film protector like RX-8 or Watcharmor recommend to prevent scratches to watches?

I checked with AD and they advise not to.

My AD saw a few times that I have protective sticker on my watches and she thinks it is fine. I guess different people different opinion

Some folks are "safe queens" mah

My colleague also same same - all his Pateks and other high end watches are in bank safe - and he wears a Garmin :ROFLMAO:
Watch is meant to be worn, not to be put into a safe. Unless it’s already pre-decided that those watches are meant to be sold at a later timing. i seriously don’t understand why people spent so much money on watches just to keep them in a safe.

Same here - I buy watches that I like cos I want to wear them, not keep them as "heirloom" etc

Why put stickers? Watches are meant to be worn.. Knicks knocks or scratches is meant to be.. keeping it “showroom” condition don’t make sense..

I don’t think she will tell you it isn’t fine either.. lol.
Maybe. But no reason for her to tell me is fine. She could actually chose not to say anything at all (just keep quiet) even if she doesn’t feel like stating an honest opinion to me about it

I guess just for added peace of mind? Maybe a bit like how people would put protective film on their phones to protect the screen from damage? A friend of mine is very good at maintaining his watches even when he wears on a daily basis but still he felt that investing a small sum on a 5 fig sum asset is just alright and went ahead with it. So I guess no right or wrong ba. Anyway not all watches can put protective sticker, lol, for eg I wear the PP Annual Calendar without any stickers

I wear my VC overseas as daily without protection as well. For minor scratches it can be polished out when you send it in for service. I also believe scratches adds to character of the Watch overtime showing you are using it, not a problem unless you want to sell it. I never sell my stuff so not a problem for me.

Thanks, yep, I agree that scratches adds to character of the watch. Actually I feel it is not a problem even if there is intention to sell it. Just have to sell at a slight discounted price as buyer will ask for some discount when they see scratches on it (perfect opportunity for them to ask for a discount). I have sold my GMT TT early this year with some visible scratches on it.

They will definitely prevent scratches if that's your only concern. But there are other things to consider:

1) Dirt/ dust will accumulate at the corners of the stickers.
2) It's a sticker, it can come off
3) Can't really wash your watch if you have stickers
4) It will kind of dull the shine of your stainless steel

Scratches shouldn't bother you as you can easily Polywatch it, or when servicing (if it's big scratches). The only thing I worry about is if there's a big ding i.e. If you slip and fall down or a door slams on your watch. In those scenarios, I'm not sure if the protector can help either.
