I actually wonder how they would use the profiling info which they obtained from these interviews. for eg, if the customer tells them that he doesn’t stay in condo nor landed property and he doesn’t drive because he feels there is no need to own a car in a small city like Singapore where travelling by public transport is pretty convenient, what would they actually make of it? Would they drop this guy as a potential customer of AP? I have a doctor friend who is the CEO of a private clinic group but he stays in hdb with his parents and doesn’t own a car. There are many affluent people who stays in hdb and they often work in CDB where they feel its a big waste of money to own a car which they feel they do not need it and very often these are the people with loads of spare cash to splurge on luxury watches

I am sure your friend have other properties lol.
He's just smart and frugal

Exactly the point I made in my post above. These are the people who will spend on watches. And what does AP sales person think if the client tells them he has no car and stays in HDB? I think it’s high time sales people stopped using certain set of criteria to judge whether a potential customer can afford their watches.
They don't care lol. Those with fancy cars and fancy houses will have the same kind of money too. Lol

A huge chunk of his Omega watches were amassed many years before at very reasonable prices. Of course he has advanced further in his watch collection in recent time with the likes of PP purchase. I haven’t exactly seen his PP collection before but he was allocated a 2023 PP Calatrava WG launched at W&W. For someone new to PP, that was really fast. I guess his reputation in the watch community made the difference. And of course some people are just very good in saving money to buy things that they like.
Btw, he had quite a high profile fall out with KHH boss a few years ago. Both went public with post on social media about their displeasure with each other

Clout. Very useful now. Lol
The khh saga you also know. Jin funny

Yeah but then they risk losing the chance to increase their client base. Those they wrongly judge to be unable to afford their watches turns out to be the ones who can buy. Ultimately by selling direct and not AD, their aim is to get new customers and increase sales revenue, isn’t it? What would they gain by always selling to the same few regulars? Haha

Lol they already not enough to offer everyone liao. They can afford to choose la. Same as Patek, rolex etc.
Selling direct. They can choose and be selective of their own customers. They earn more also.
That's the whole point. Damn smart the ceo.
AD tend to dilute the brand and use other brands sales to bundle for ap (same like rolex)

But rolex too big to go direct. They will have alot to deal with.
1m vs 50-60k watches a year.
Patek do both. Salons and AD. They also produce around 70k
The only salon that you can try every reference in the catalog is in Geneva

I see, thanks for sharing the insights.
Patek salons only in Europe. No chance for me to visit, unfortunately.
I still like how VC boutique works, take name and treat everyone who stepped into the boutique the same.

Try visiting the PP Museum. I have always wanted to do so but not had the chance to go Switzerland yet.

Ya a 40mm explorer 2 going for 11500 chf sounds like a lot to me although I dunno enough about the range and the nuances. 116520 going for almost 30k chf
