those went to malaysia/indonesia, is the speed really throttled?

https://www.tpgmobile.sg/community/topic/100-international-roaming/

Early Oct was in KL, and speed was still at 1mbps and all was smooth.

Early-Mid Oct was in JB and speed was still acceptable although can feel that its a little slower than in KL. Hotspot to 2 other phones to play Pokemon still ok.

Late Oct was in JB, and just I myself already have problem playing Pokemon...
Sharing out to play, all others cannot sign-in.

So basically only WhatsApp is usable in Malaysia? Other than that, connectivity is really bad?

Coverage is in fact much better than U mobile when outdoors.
Indoors is quite ok still but underground is bad.

Connectivity as in speed is very slow now in Malaysia.
Whatsapp, Waze, google search still ok.

Phone call, just use VoLTE to call Singapore number, FOC.

Thanks for this! Can you make calls to a sg number when both users are in Malaysia?

Guess it's time to get local SIM or sign up for M1 data passports or use StarHub Prepaid.

Basically useless for Malaysia case. Went last weekend. Indoor basically coverage is next to zero. Outdoor either slow or have signal but not able to internet at most time.

If both are TPG users and has VOLTE. yes you can call, he/she can receive.

If the called party has roaming, yes. you can call, he/she can receive.

If the called party has no roaming... you can call, he/she cannot receive.

Generally it works at Kuala Lumpur around 70% if the time ...

Can say 90% of time even north south highway there is data roaming all the time. Can surf web, YouTube anything no issues.

Funny thing is in jb it is not the case. Cannot even surf web at all. Super Super funny.

Whether they offer the voice call service or not, it does not matter for now. Why? You are using a FREE service. So stop complaining. If you want to make call and have fast internet connection, subscribe to RedOne. It’s only $8 for the lowest tier plan, can’t be that you could not afford it?

One good thing about TPG is that it's least likely to suffer from network congestion thanks to the low number of users =:p

Soon you have to pay. If they continue to operate this way, that's does not means it will sudden become good when you start paying.

If the company adopted same thinking as you. They will never improve!

Tbf VoLTE support requires the phone OEM to support the specific carrier. It's usualy done via software update. If your phone OEM can't be bothered then u can't make calls... One exception is Xiaomi which you can manually force the phone to enable VoLTE & voWiFi

I believe tpg will have to make a dedicated app just for phone calls eventually since they can't expect every phone OEM to implement their VoLTE profile.
