In my last few JB trips. The Yes 4G network was so so bad. Probably good for sending and receiving random whatsapp messages. Hope they partner with other companies that have better coverage.

TPG should concentrate on improving sector by sector.
Their local network coverage is already weak.
Then they some more want to partner with low tier ISP for oversea roaming partnership.
Even if it was free and what is the use?

I wonder what could be the problem ? Once we connect to the Malaysian network, isn't it the same as their phone connecting ? Curious. Thanks if anyone could enlighten me.

Obviously the notice from TPG about the suspension is due to the feedback from users. Obviously the data roaming service is having issues thus many have encountered.

Dun see a reason why some users think that individual experience is a representation of everyone.

The act from TPG now has clearly shown that.

not sure why TPG is giving free roaming while local signal is still weak.

TPG should improve the local services first, eg: underground MRT, building basement, etc.
Once customer have confident on TPG, they will subscribe to VAS, such as roaming, etc.

Just got the free TPG SIM (6 months free trial) to go with my new backup phone Huawei Nova 5T (S$28 from SingTel Combo 2 recontract).

TPG signal is not too bad for me in Jutong West area. VoLTE and 4G data work fine.

The speed is usually low, but I got a good result in Taman Jurong Area.

High ping with SingTel SpeedTest server through.

By comparison, I got >100Mbps speed with SingTel using my Huawei P20 (main phone).

The coverage is still very poor.

In order to have good user experience. Islandwide coverage is the most critical thing. If only for selected area, it is nothing better than using fixed line broadband.

Indoor coverage is the killer for TPG. The latency as well. The latency is damn high for TPG. Mobile gaming is totally impossible. One will get inconsistent experience due to the high latency.

Any telcos within coverage can give such speed or much better speed with no issues. The important thing is not only speed but coverage also.

Coverage is everything.

they don't seem to be anywhere near offering actual (non-trial) service, by the looks of it. aren't they worried about their time to ROI?

The roaming part, is an agreement with TPG and the overseas telco.
Since they offering free, I'm sure they did not take up a high bandwidth roaming with their partner telcos. Bandwidth means $$ for telcos

They really need to work hard on getting network coverage on all mrt underground network.

Otherwise is useless as we spend average 30-40 mins on mrt a day. That the time when most ppl 101% focus on using phone to socialize

Yes, coverage is still very poor. Is they start billing, will not use them.

Few more days to 9feb20 still no update.
Likely tpg will extend the free trial.
Also not a good time with current crisis at hand.
