if not getting full system is TP still the best place to go?
Got ram from newegg and ssd from amazon

I went there last week but went home empty handed.
mobo bundle need + 20
super flower golden king 750w, he say lousy psu, no more already, not bringing in.
no discount one, tell me don't have this don't have tt, i tell say how u want me full set. but die die never give discount :(

btw any advice on Asrock H87 performance or Asus H87 pro? dun seems to get much reviews for this two boards. =:p

My experience with them is neutral, and recently kinda bad. :(
Some guidelines for dealing with SLS shops like Tradepac:
  1. Call 'em up. Call them up and ask for availability of stocks before going there to waste time.
  2. Don't just stand there. I know a number of you guys, especially newbies, like to go in stand there and wait. Sometimes the shop owners will forget your existence and serve everyone else while you quietly wait there nerd rage. Here's some tips for smaller size guys. Stop being nervous. Give a buay song look and make a decision. Know and estimate roughly when your next "queue" is. Don't just stand there blur blur, when asked then still blur and indecisive and unsure. You unsure better still, wait lor.
  3. Decision making. Be firm with what you want. Don't let them swayed your decision in their favour.
  4. Know thy prices. Seen so many people go there to just buy 1 or a few items and attempt a weak attempt in asking price slash. Know your prices lah. You have mobile phone right? Check your prices, check Amazon, know what is the SRP, etc etc. Estimate and negotiate. I always don't understand why so many people go there and "Oh i want this one how much?" "$100 ah, can lower a not?" "$1 off leh, cannot ah.. then nevermind... *insert forever alone pitiful face*" :s22:
  5. Items swapped. Double check your items they passed to you. If best, ask a friend/buddy to double check with you as well. Once there was this fraked up incident say want a 2x8gb ram and then they quote 2x4gb ram price, which is super cheap. Then you happy ask for two of these "2x4gb" sets and then to realize they aren't the 2x8gb as you initially requested. Please check before payment. Things can get very chaotic and you kan chiong because the items look very identical, pay already then gg.
  6. Check for seals. As mentioned by several others, Tradepac has a tendency of opening brand new items, molest them and put them back. Check for unopened seals before buying.
  7. "Discounts" applied only for full systems. Discounts can be a shady thing, esp for Tradepac. Sometimes they generous they can slash, sometimes they bullsh1t you say not full system no slash, thus, pricelist pricing is still bullsh1t. For example, they listed a particular mobo combo is $800 where other shops is $900. But they sell you $900 as well say your purchase is not complete setup. I suggest why not get a few frens together and buy together, maybe better discount?
  8. This item is OOS is usually a farce. Availability of stocks in Tradepac is very unusual. One moment they tell me oh this mobo OOS. The next moment I ask again and showed a buay song poker face they say wait they will find a way and 5 mins later, another ah neh come running dunno from where to the shop and pass you this OOS item.
  9. Distro promo not valid. Once in a while, distros will give attractive promotions, like free items here and there if purchase some particular items. Shops like Tradepac usually will not recognize it. They will tell you things such as "these products you bought are below cost price, thus no promo for you", or "the promo over already, no more". Check Asus Dec 2013 promo threads.
  10. Better to pay by cash. It is always better to pay by cash than using cc. You never know the 0% additional cost is actually not 0%.
  11. No aftersales service. The moment you hand over the cash, no talk already. So please check everything before you pay. Once paid, they literally bo chup you.

i like this line above lol....

Distro say reseller but reseller say no such thing/out of stock/selling below cost when promo is just out.

So where does the consumer stand? suck thumb because pay le.

Just to add on, Tradepac's 0% additional cost for CC payment is a bluff so dont believe it.

thanks izone for the tips.

I went in and out, thou i tried to "tok" them fail( i counteroffer with my homework, just didn't work out). they also never manage to "tok" me. when i said nevermind i go downstairs then they play the eh bro wait, check with boss. just tt he returned with the sorry boss say cannot, u look around, later u sure come back with the smirk on his face.

Since im left with mobo, psu and hdd. maybe i just get them from different different shop and just get WD blue from TP since they have the best price.

Out of topic but just to share my experience at sls just now (First time heading there and my first rig lol). Wanted to buy a full rig plus monitor, os, speaker, keyboard and mouse. Went there at around 12+ pm. Well supposed to get a rig from fortran but last minute sth happen so order cant be delivered today. Really not his fault as r9 280x didnt come in for him. So i bopian go sls and before that, sms-ed bro GS at around 10.30+ pm about my situation and he said not to worry, he`ll purchase everything on my behalf and just give him the parts i wanna purchase. Gave him the list of parts fortran had in mind for me and he changed some parts and justified why he changed some parts and i heeded his advice.

So i went to SLS to bro GS`s shop and he said the speaker i`m looking for no stock. (Creative T3130). So i said i`ll find one around sls and asked him to help me assemble for me the parts while i searched for the speakers. First of went to pc themes. No stock for the creative or Lansing fx 3022a. Searched and asked at almost all pc shops no stock except for Best Buy who had fx 3022a and quoted me almost double the price fortran and the ppl here gave. Really :O . So of course i walked off. Then fortran sms-ed me and advice me to get a hi vi swans m10 at pc themes so i went there to get it. Fortran quoted me 109 but when i asked the pc themes ppl how much it cost, they say 119. Then i say my friend quoted it costs only 109 then they with their sian face said yes, its true but only if you pay cash. Woah $10 difference between paying using cash and nets! :O

Had some time so decided to visit the legendary tradepac. Didn`t expect the shop to be so small lol. So i asked any stocks for r9 280x and they said they have asus and msi. Asked how much and they asked me if im buying a rig or not. When i said no, their face changed and they asked how many r9 280x i want. Of course i said 1 as not planning to crossfire and they quoted me 479 for msi r9 280x which was really exp by a few tens of dollars. Asked whether can lower and they showed me invoices of other people who bought rigs there with gpu and said only with full rig you get this price. Really wtf. Oh and if you are curious, here`s what i got today

i5 4570
msi b85 gaming
Avexir red led ram
Msi r9 280x
Samsung 840 evo 120gb ssd
Wd 1tb blue
Samsung 24x dvdrw
Seasonic s12
Fractal Design Arc Midi
Dell 2340L
Logitech G100s Keyboard Mouse (Only regret this purchase. Too flimsy and squeezy for my liking)
Tp-link Wn4800 Wireless Dual Band N
Windows 8
Hivi m10 speakers

Other unrelated pc stuff:

Ps Vita
Xba H1

Headed back to GS shop and chit-chatted with him and his uncle. Soon, he finished assembling it and gave me 2 free games, Assasins Creed and Splinter Cell haha. His uncle also helped me to carry my rig down to the nearest taxi stand. Really great service!

To add on, there were a few hiccups where when i reach home, e.g there`s no power adapter for the monitor. Bro GS sent his uncle who was coincidentally heading somewhere near my house to pass me the power adapter. And now i have a missing antenna for my wireless set up which GS assured me he`ll sent it to my house. Overall, really good service from GS.

So in conclusion, sls is really a scary place for a newbie like me. If not for you guys, fortran and gs, i would likely have get cheated in terms of money and parts :DD

$479 is a srp.

It is up to you to bargain. One flip at mynextcom webpage they can give you price match for that.

And yes you buy a full rigs is cheaper. Like $440 I got for one of our fellow member here.

Same goes to an asus r9 290 at $600 flat.

If you are buying a single item. Best is do your homework first in terms of pricing from other stores first. This will know where the pricing can stand. And fyi r9 280x they have stocks and selling you at $479 also because they pull stocks from pc themes. Whatever the cost is they will charge customer. Cause I myself personally went down ytd night before closing time they do not have stocks for the r9 280x. So my prime suspect is they pull stocks from other stores.
