I rather pay a little more upfront to support a good shop than pay even more later if anything screws up and the retailer just bo hiew you or show you his long black face.

imo, either way you still got to pay.

1-800-CALL-YILONG FTW! :)

This remind me of a backlane shop that i went to last yr, when my PSU kaput and i went there with whole com to change to a new one, with the intention of upgrading GPU as well. Was using the Nvidia GT120.
Went there alr , tell them i want 560ti, then he bring out GT220 never even say anything and expecting me to go cashier alr, tell him i want the 560ti he say my com cannot support, like not interested to explain why also. I did my research and knew GT220 is barely an upgrade so i din fall for his trick.

In the end walk out with PSU only, and PSU was so lousy only have 1 of those 6pin connectors for newer GPU's so i had to buy another when i upgraded my GPU myself few mths later.

I now using 5870 with same system with no probs, can run games like l4d2/tf2 much more fluidly than ever.
So i guess that guy trying to use me to clear old stock cuz i was inexperienced.
Will never buy from this terrible backlane shop again.

tell us how much discount you get! i hope at least 5% off total price or something

Definitely can get 10% cheaper even for small item below $100 at Tradepac. However the service is zzzz. They let you stand there and only entertain those building full rig or buying big ticket item only or probably those 'Cai tou' for their chopping exercise. Saw how they practice chopping 'Cai Tou' once too haha. Anyhow reco the expensive and unsuitable hardware to others

backlane shop :D. The answer is obvious. You can have 1 very nice staff but the rest attitude to me is useless.

PCthemes of course!yilong and yazid are great people with knowledge to backup their attitude!or Cybermind..not the cheapest but Harrison also great guy!tradepace..heard many many stories in the forums...logic thinking is how can they survive by undercutting all the shops? something they must be doing we don't know. One story I heard their Intel sold cpu spoil but don't even want to change for buyer when Intel law say they should under 30days...I sincerely believe this kind of story will never happen with yilong and Harrison!

actually is more like tradepac scare replace customer e cpu then e cpu gt some issue with intel warranty like that they jialat :S

anyway tradepac their so call "technician" realli ~.~
they can put e thing wrongly then cannot boot HAHAHAHA

All facts and no comments from me.

Just went to pcthemes.
Bought a lamptron fc9
I asked price then sales guy reply x
I said okay
Then I asked if we can open it - he said okay.

Then I saw one heat sink was bent 45 degrees and I showed it to the sales guy
Then he says don't know we just open it. Don't worry it should work.

Then me playing the newbie just nodded.

Took out my credit card to pay.

Then sales guy now says price x plus 3%,
Took the 3% increase....

Just gave the shop a try because of all good reviews

Lets just say that it will be my last 'try' with this shop.

that i why i normally buy from cybermind.

yes... and the pricing is comparable...

i'm only mildly irritated by x% for credit card - tradepac pulls the same stunt as well, but i've bought enough from them to push prices down.

what ticked me off was that even with a clearly bent heatsink opened in front of them they did not even bother to change it (there were at least 2 more in store) and just assured me that "don't worry it should work"...

my normal self would insist on having it changed on the spot, but what i was testing out is if given a timid newbie would they do what is right and proper.

i spent some time in the small shop looking at stuff and listening to the staff... there were two ones that stood out...

the 1st guy (let's call him rigbuilder)
and the 2nd guy (let's call him salaryman)

rigbuilder was good when talking to his clients, the component suggestions was dead-on and when i asked about bitfenix extensions he even bothered to check the back of the shop, seeing as there were none - he came back and apologized that the distro already pulled out the stock.

salaryman was the guy that served me for the lamptron fc9...

Except for CPU+MOBO bundles, cyberm*nd offering better than pct prices if you are using credit card/nets
