You need to know the context of TS before you whack those that says no.

I've already tuned my Mz3 more than a month ago and loving it... so have several of my Mz kakis who followed after me... :s13:

However, we know what we were aiming for when we did the tuning... expectations vs reality is very important :s13:

Piggyback is cheap.. the dyno is not, given that the piggyback will 'forget' settings overtime opposed to ECU tuning... additionally ECU tuning nowadays mostly fixed at $500...

$350 for a FD1A was like... 2009?

Satki Mz3 ;):)

If $600 is small amount to you or spare cash you can burn, why not.

Looking positively, money can make back. There are much worse ways to lose $600.

If it agonise you or constantly haunt you for months on whether to tune or not to tune, I would say just go for it.

That said, gains can be quite limited on a NA engine I guess. But if it helps, why not?

I forgot to ask.. what ride? :)

there seems to be many positive reviews for those driving shuttle and vezels who went for tuning, even on stock setup.

Tune only if your car has a turbo. If you had done intake or exhaust mod, then tuning may help.

Just some advice to those that wanted to tune the car and don't want to have too much follow up.

For intake, not wise to go with the stupid open pod , aka hot air intake. you don't get much gain but the side effects are detrimental.

Side effects
-sluggish move off
-upset MAF(mass air flow sensor) , air metering accuracy can be out by 30%.
- susceptible to change of installation, by taking out the mushroom head could completely screw up the air meter Reading , this is the most dangerous issue of concern.

You get your car tuned up with wideband oxygen to Dial in correct fuel ratio however over time you take out the open pod mushroom head, your air metering is messed up, running super lean will kill your engine , pre detonation, warp head gasket, burning piston rings.

*DO NOT GO WITH OPEN PORT on stock car settings, you are slowly killing the engine health.

Go with cold air intake , If you want, that is much better .

Tune after you've finished your mods. Not before.

I went as is and tuned in stock mode as I don't intend to mod.

most people cannot differentiate between cold air intake and open pod. They just take open pod and CAI the same thing. To make things easier, i think just stick to stock air box and replace with drop in filter. K&N / hurricane ... whatever brand is there for your car.

Car don't need filter one. Full flow. The sound also increase without touching exhaust
