treat it as lifestyle thingy... like drink red wine... spin it and enjoy

important thing... enjoy the music, pay less attention to the equipments

You see, the problem is..for a lot of people..instead of enjoying the music..they end up upgrading unneccesarily....and in the case of a few friends I know...cleaning their records excessively....have laser levelling and whatsoever and every listening is an hour or 2 of balancing their turntable..dusting records,..adjust here adjust there..

And they all started out innocently...

TS should check out the prices of new vinyl nowadays before embarking. It can be quite costly. I understand it's hip but there are others ways to get enjoyable sound for less.
Have done some market research, an aware that it will be double the price of CD...at least! For me it is not for the hip factor, rather I like the old charm like the record spinning, the crackling, etc.

The media is much more expensive than the turntable on the long run
Oh, most definitely.

Audio Technica AT-LP1240-USB Direct Drive DJ Turntable

Got usb and preamp output
Thanks, will check it out.

The one getting into it lor..the long term cost is very high huan..also time spend cleaning..dun forget that..
Erm, that will be me lor...yeah, well aware, that's why doing research.

Usually the ritual of putting on spinning vinyl is secondary to wanting the warmth and coloration of analogue sound. Otherwise I suspect your excitement will be short lived.

Well, can't say for sure will it be able to last, but certainly hope it will.

Consider the Technics SL1200MK2 if you can still find one. A bit more expensive than 'entry' level ones but IMO pitch accuracy, high torque, low vibration and high reliability are things you look for in a turntable. I'm sure there are better 'audiophile' decks around but trust me you'll appreciate how consistent and little maintenance this fella needs.

To 'audiophile' it just swap the phono cartridge to something like Ortofon OM 5e or Shure M97xe, or a more expensive MC cartridge.
