$160?! I bought the tv for $200 plus Nia. Sian like not worth it. Anyway thanks for the info.

A tech come down to repair will cost around that price. Philip is 1 yr warranty? That's why i always get those with 3 yrs warranty. You are not alone as I am aware of it because in my earlier day i also got a Philips Tv. Within 1 yr the Tv could not power up and repair 1 time and after warranty over the problem come again. I give up. I suggest you get a 32" with 3 yrs warranty. You can also use your computer to watch Tv. Just need a usb t2 tv tuner.

Its LG that wants $210
I had Mr Ho 93520850 came to take a look... he is honest and has all the knowledge... costs me $50 for his effort to run up and down LG parts office a few times.
Sure, you are taking advantage of people who doesn't know costing.

It's a sharp 32" LED TV. Bought it last year from Qoo10. Guess only 1 year warranty. Even if its 3 years, parts i believe we gotta pay right?

No, it is full warranty where labour and parts included. For Tv if pay for parts then it is not warranty.

May be he treat him like a close friend so never charge him for labour cost. The part is not original or not a new part. May be ~ 6 mths time another problem or same problem pop up again. Quite common.

Okay, nice, I just checked my order page from Qoo10. The listing stated 3 year warranty. But my dad have thrown the box away thinking nothing was in it. The box contains the receipt etc. Will it be still covered? Need to call Sharp to check it out.

Did you register the warranty online? What is the date of production on the back of the tv. If no receipt, it will be based on the date behind your Tv. When you buy online you will have online receipt. I like online purchase as the receipt is e-copy. You have softcopy of your order and transaction receipt and usually in email. What is in the box is just user manual and delivery order which is not that important at all. If i buy from super store, i will photocopy and scan into softcopy. I also registered my warranty online. I also backup the receipt.

I only got the Qoo10 receipt online with the merchant name on it and purchase date. Unless Sharp SG don't validate the merchant. If not, it should be enough to claim as warranty i guess.

Ya, possible. Sometimes these older folks would appreciate your gesture such as offering them a drink after the work is done, chit chat with them showing that you are interested in them as a person. We have a licensed plumber for a long time until we became friends. He told us he would charge other customers more for the same service. We always tipped him.

Receipt from the seller is good enough to claim warranty. You can call sharp to tell them you buy online and have the online receipt and see what they say. I think our law here never say must be paper receipt.

Hello all. Is the extended warranty worth buying when getting a new tv. Going to get a new tv soon. Hope you guys can share your experience with the various vendor for extended warranty.

Anyone had any problem claiming extended warranty when your TV broke down?

A warning to get LG TV and just to share my experience on their warranty.

I have a 47" LG (I think 47LM6900) and it was spoilt after ard 2 years and it was lightly used. Called up LG and was told that my unit has 3 years warranty as I had registered on the LG website.

However, they told me that I have to get my receipt ready before they come down otherwise LG would charge me $214 for diagnostics. I told them I had misplaced my receipt and they replied they cannot honor the warranty without the receipt (bla bla bla in the fine print). I questioned them the rationale of registering LG appliances with their website and they told me it is just for record purpose.

I end with departing shot by telling them off I rather dump the TV or give away to gana guni than to repair the TV.

My previous Panasonic Plasma lasted more than 5 years and I had given away to my relative and it is still working now. No more LG or korea TV for me anymore!!!

Yes. I am SO disappointed with LG TVs that I bought :

1. SkyWorth 42" LED TV
2. Xiaomi Mi TV 2 55" 4K LED TV

Now just hope that both will last >3yrs. If can least >5yrs, then I am a convert and NO MORE branded TVs for me liao.

Did they advise on the likely cause and part(s) that need to be replaced?

Best to make sure that they still have the required spare parts in stock, otherwise, you may end up paying $$$ for them to tell you that you need to buy a new TV because LG no longer manufactures the spare parts for this model.

Hmm, LG quoted me $214 just for them to come down to check - looks like they may have reduced the price recently?

The Sharp technician just left. He no less than 10 minutes to fix the "no power" problem, saying this issue plague this series of LED TV. And he did not even ask to for my warranty card etc, say its in their records, so I guess I did in fact mail out the warranty card when i first bought the TV.

He say warranty for panel is 1 year and other parts for 2 years. Now the TV is able to work again! Then my warranty officially ends August 2017, can save $$.

Anyway, thanks for your advice!

Yes it is very fast one. He change the power board right? Power board is ~ $160. Some brand is full 3yrs warranty.
