Yes. I am SO disappointed with LG TVs that I bought :

1. SkyWorth 42" LED TV
2. Xiaomi Mi TV 2 55" 4K LED TV

Now just hope that both will last >3yrs. If can least >5yrs, then I am a convert and NO MORE branded TVs for me liao.

haha. I bought another LG TV but this time with extended warranty. I sold my broken LG TV to a colleague for a mere $200.00 but he agrees to take the chance to repair it.

Did they advise on the likely cause and part(s) that need to be replaced?

Best to make sure that they still have the required spare parts in stock, otherwise, you may end up paying $$$ for them to tell you that you need to buy a new TV because LG no longer manufactures the spare parts for this model.

Hmm, LG quoted me $214 just for them to come down to check - looks like they may have reduced the price recently?

You are quoted $214 because you are out of warranty period if I am not wrong and this is for diagnostics and not including repair cost. I suggest u might as well get another TV technician since it is out of warranty and makes more economic sense too.

zorrac's LG TV was purchased Jan 2012, i.e. should be out of warranty as well. Perhaps different price for different TV size/model?

Anyway, yes, $214 is just for making the onsite trip plus diagnostics. They also advised that based on the symptoms I described, it was most likely the main board, which is no longer in production - hence, cannot be repaired by LG... in other words, please go buy a new TV...

Hi there,

Got a TV from LG, 55LW5700, currently something wrong with it. Screen does not light up and it only has pulsating red light on. Any idea what is the problem?

Most likely is due to popped capacitors. Pretty easy to fix, I fixed mine with knowledge from youtube and google. Went down to SL Tower and ask them to help solder on new and higher spec caps. (I was too lazy to do it myself) $25 all in repair cost, no taxi costs as I took out the motherboard and took train haha.

Cannot imagine how much those repairmen earn when usually the problem is just caused by 2 broken components costing $0.20 each.

To all those that have a power issue, strip the TV down and take a high-red pic of the motherboard. Post it here so we can see if anything can be easily fixed.

I have a LG 32" LCD TV. Everything is working fine accept for no sound. No warranty anymore, LG no part.

Anyone can advise where I could get the sound fix? I do not know how to DIY.

Want to get new TV but am not working and hub earning very slim salary and when we have enough, other things came that need us to spent the money away, really placing us in such quality of life. Throwing the TV away would be very sayang.

Please help as we have been watching this dummy TV more than half a year liao. Laughing at ourselves watching "eh gao hee" sigh..

Does the TV have a headphone jack?
If yes, you can try connecting your earphones to verify if it is working.
If working, then a viable solution is to use external speakers.

Better make sure they can get hold of the spare part mainboard first - I believe it is no longer in production.

Mine was 55LW6500 - mainboard no longer in production - so had to buy new TV.

Believe it should be the same case for the 47" model - please do update on the outcome, thanks.
