i would say audition both first before coming to a decision.

it would also depend on the genre of songs you listen to. i've read that there are quite a few who still couldn't get a good fit on the UE900. the UE900 is truly a poison :(

I'll have to disagree on the poison part. IMO its just another multi driver iem

IMO this is much better than the Westone 4. i think it is very well engineered. Free from distortion and well-balanced. The crossover design is also well-implemented. Logitech also patented the triple-bore + multi-layered bore configuration.

Free from distortion? Well balanced? Interesting take. Its like saying This new cake is sweet and spongy.

Have to agree with you on the New "Bore technology" But they certainly failed to implement it properly *eg pair it with the correct drivers/tune it properly* considering that i can't find any real good reviews about it yet. Personally don't like how it sounds either.

It looks like they used some glue? to hold the drivers in place, to top it off, the blue plastic actually feels very cheap. Light but does not feel durable to me.

1. ok bro we get ur point. dont have to counter every other person who give give positive comments on ue900.

2. as for good reviews, the source which u kope the pic from headfonia
Thoughts on the Ultimate Ears UE900 | Headfonia

To all due respect. I was countering nobody. I'm just telling him that by saying that there's no distortion and it's balanced. It's akin to saying that water is wet. I never said that what he said was wrong. The ue900 is indeed a good iem. I'm just pointing out the flaws that nobody pointed out yet.

And quoted.

The idea here is that designers create IEMs with different goals, and the UE900 is clearly an IEM designed to cater to the mature but mainstream crowd. The crowd should be mature enough, having previous experience with several high end IEMs to know what good sound is about, and with a playlist mixed of modern mainstream music as to fully appreciate the tuning.

It's like saying. Oh well it's good. But you need to listen to mainstream stuff to enjoy it.

That's like worse than what I rated it. I actually enjoyed it with some oldies.

i guess at the end of the day, it's still a subjective issue.

some may like it, some don't. there isn't a single IEM/CIEM out there that pleases everyone. if there is, let me know, i'll empty my wallet for it. it's always good to know the pros and cons of an IEM. some of us might feel that the cons are negligible while some may not. to each his own :o

seriously what's wrong with people nowadays.. keep breaking the demo sets :(

diff ppl have diff taste in music. some may like vocal more some may like bass more.
there isn't anything that really suit everyone.

Just demoed the UE900. Sounds meh, pretty much like a slightly more refined TF10pro, but still way <<< westone 4 in detail retrieval. Only gd point is theres more bass i guess, for the more mainstream.

Build quality isn't very fantastic either, both shure and westone had better.

Tried the UE900.

UE900 seems to lose out slightly to the Heir Audio 4.Ai and the Westone 4/4R.

Build quality wise, also lose out.

Not saying UE900 is bad here though. It's quite pretty as well.

Demo-ed at airport. Nothing like TF10 - Much better fit but no sparkling treble, controlled bass. The better fit (and pretty design) can be much attributed to different drivers/bores placement which almost guarantee a signature change even with the exact same Knowles drivers. Those who have gotten a custom reshell will know what I meant.

Totally don't understand why some are saying this is the successor of TF10 ,especially at head-fi. Total snake-oil claim imo.

Some just don't understand UE is a totally different company with a different strategy after Logitech took over.

Oh well, marketing works.

Went down to Stereo to audition the 4R and UE900 and my ears prefer the UE. Soundstage on 4R is wider but it feels like the singer is singing at a distance away. With the UE900, the singer is singing into my ears. I guess I'm a UE fan after all. Time to upgrade from my Superfi 5 Pro.

Side note: went to Stereo PS to audition. Great service from the female staff who was helpful and allowed me to slowly test the earphones.

Glad you enjoyed the service at Plaza Singapura! =)

I personally have the SF5 pro as well but the TF10 didn't cater to my taste due to the bass and the lacking mids. The UE900 is a great improvement I would say.

I was poisoned by the UE 900 and bought it eventually. So how does the 2 year warranty works? Just keep the receipt?

i was using westone 4, and juz got a UE900 today..

after numerous testing, i agree with Kiddream.

Westone 4 sounds like you are sitting further away from the stage,

while UE900, Sounds like u are directly just beside the singer

Bass wise will be UE900 winning..
