Would like to say i immensely enjoyed my quick and dirty audition of the Mentors today at the ION outlet.

The mentors have crazy sub-bass but still manages to sound coherent across the spectrum.

I'm listening to my Grado GS1K now and i am seriously missing the bass the Mentors kick out!

Perhaps i should make an appointment with the audiologist to have my impressions made. :s22:

I am by no means even close to being called a audiophile (I am a noob) and i can hear the difference between my Shure 315 and the UM Mage.

Hope my X5 is able to drive the UM Mage without an amp. Still waiting on the mage.

Fiio X5 can drive my Merlin (4BA + 1 Dynamic) without amp at low gain with sufficient volume at levels between 40 to 60, so I believe Mage (4BA) should not be a problem at all!

(My CO will kill me if she knows how much i spent on the CIEM)

Very easy steps, bro.. You need to have your ear impressions first then once done, you can proceed to either of our stores to fill up the UM form. From there you will choose your desired colors for faceplates, shells and tips and to process the payment as well. Visit us so our staffs can advise you further.

You can also check out the UM CIEM Designer Website to have a glimpse on how you would want your CIEM to be. ;)

Hi TeamStudio just a question i visited the site, but it seems that after all customization there is no preview of how the CIEM will look like. Did i miss some steps?

You can select your desired colors for the faceplates, shells and tips, even for the inserts and UM logo right? After you've selected your choices, it will automatically appear in the sample CIEM in the middle. Roughly it will look like that but you can proceed to either of our stores as we have the samples for the actual shades. :)

Are ear impressions a one time thing or everytime we need to refit a custom iem or make a new one , a new ear impression will have to be made.

Adult female here so i think i am unlikely to outgrow anything

Normally, the impression will be sent to the maker and will not be returned.

I think your ear will still change its shape slightly over the years so i think its better to do a new impression everytime to get a perfect fit even if the maker has an archive of your ear impression.

Hi there! UM is keeping the ear impressions for a period of 6 months. After which you will be needing to have a new ear impressions as anything beyond the given period is not advisable to re-use an old one to have a better fitting and isolation. :)

Anyone has the UM Mage>X5>E12 combo care to comment on the enhancements to the UM Mage?

I will most probably be testing out this combo when I get my Mage....2 weeks and countinggggg.....

I own the rooth ls4, dx50 and e 12. Don't bother with e 12. Just use it with your dap which already has an internal amplifier. E12 is to give mobile phones a boost.

I suggest just test UM Mage with X5 directly first, if it is loud enough and good enough for you, then you no need to consider E12 for now and just enjoy what you have.

If you really wanna try E12, I suggest trying it yourself, bring your rig down to shops and try it on the spot. There are thousands of impressions around but nothing beats an actual audition to tell you whether they are worth buying.

Don't know if I should post this under UM or JH... Anyway, just got my first CIEM back yesterday. Sent a pair of JH16 Freqphase to Stereo @ ION for reshell about 4 and half weeks ago. Got them back yesterday. They look excellent, fit great if I put them in properly (even fell asleep last night while watching video w/ them in ears, woke up a couple of hours later, no funny feeling in ears). Seals don't break even I move my jaw around, but I like them the best when I keep my mouth a bit open (just like when I made the impression with a biting block in mouth).

Sound wise I couldn't tell how they sounded when they were still in JH16's shells (bought them second hand for reshell), but so far I'm pretty happy with the UM shells when matched w/ the AK120, even better with the HM901 but this one isn't for on the go. Will mod my Lune MKIII cable (with Shure connectors) to fit these later and see if there is any improvement.

Here you go, excellent job from UM and Stereo:

Just got my UM Mage yesterday. Was so surprised it only took 3 weeks.

Fit is great and the quality of the faceplate/shell is outstanding. Loving my Mage!! Thanks to team Stereo.
