anything u request or ask them to inform, they're not obligated to do so, anything is out of gdwill so dont expect la pls.

u can also cause them back some inconvenience lor, like bang on the wall or create noise/nuisance in the middle of the night, block their way with ur stuff, throw water at their unit, smoke outside their house etc. not everyone u can use 君子 method, many times u need to be 小人 when logic dont work. fight fire with fire is more effective sometimes.
my husband initially said then spray back loh! but i think not long term solution.

Sound like ur problem

if i am boomer (a lot of free time), u want to start the game.... then i will just play along with u.

cos when we first moved, their tree was infringing to our side so my husband asked him to trim it as legally we had every right to do so.

Can tell me how to deal with unreasonable neighbour?

As last 2 months there was an increase of mosquito, my neighbour started to spray insecticide every day or other day within his house compound, however the area he sprayed is quite near to my living room window and everytime they spray, the smell will drift to my living room. however when they spray, they will know when they spray so they can quickly escape back to their own house and close their door while we have to breathe in their insecticide. its quite bad that sometimes it drifted all the way to my dining area.

so they started spraying somewhere in dec, then we tolerated till feb and we felt its like going on forever. so last week i tried to be nice and gave the owner's sister (who is staying there too) those electrical mosquito device that can zap mosquito and suggested to them to use. so this week they started spraying again, and i tried to speak to them but they were very hostile. the owner said he has been staying 40 years + and no issue until we came. cos when we first moved, their tree was infringing to our side so my husband asked him to trim it as legally we had every right to do so. this was only 2-3 months, after we moved in as the tree branches was growing to our side and affecting the fixture we had on our area. also my helper complained the tree had too many leaves and keep dropping to our compound, and attracting too many birds which fly past and pooed on our laundry. now when we told him about the insecticide thing, he felt we are picking bones at him. he said the behind neighbours also not happy with us cos of the trees. to be fair, in the end the tree that is at the neighbours at the back, we paid people money to trim it down ourselves because after checking with behind neighbours they said its not theirs as it was just nice growing on the fence and public drain area. so this neighbour at our side, just need to pay money to trim his tree because that was obviously growing in his garden. we had 2 young children in the house. and its only now in feb that we brought this up after 2 months cos its been too long of almost daily spraying of insecticide.

its an old uncle and his sister at 80+ years old age. sorry to say, but felt such boomers only think of themselves and not others. and funny thing is they dont pay for waste removal service but they will walk 30m to the public tree and throw their waste there.

how do you think i should go about? my in law felt we should not spoil neighbourly relationships but maybe tolerate and try to pacify them to be on their good side cos she said we have young children so we are always at the losing end.
Summarize la

i just moved in last year. no chance and money to move. also very near my kids school.

only wish is they faster uplorry. felt so bad that im thinking such evil thoughts.
I know it is tough.

Actually this type of thing it all depends how bad it goes. If things get really bad you might consider moving.

My advice is don't go the principled route. Like by right this by right that should be like that the law says this the rules say that.

If you really intend to stay there then go charm offensive. Apologize to the neighbor. Be nice to them. And be persistent nice. Buy them food. Find out what they like. Meanwhile endure their stuff. If you can't stomach this then it is just a battle of attrition of wills and likely you lose cos you got young kids.

Easier to move if they really are unreasonable and they already hate you beyond redemption.

Good luck.

they bring their waste and drop it at the foot of one of the public tree 30m away from their house. its funny cos initially my husband was wondering why they everyday a few times walk there with plastic bag. then realise they dropped their waste there.

its 30$ for removal service but seems like they not willing to pay so. their house is like those 50 year old original house super old, paint peeling never maintained kind. dont think they have the money to really maintain
WHO CARES
Take video pass to NEA
Those people are lazy , so you MUST tell them the identity of these people
No kidding

And what waste?
Plastic wrapper or animal bones
Anyway doesn't matter
What matters is big waste ,there's no fine payable, it's actually ..... hehehe

If they get slammed with charge or charges they'll probably appeal cos they're old

But no kidding
You need to take videos , all the videos so lazy arse civil servants will be forced to take action

And what's the point of spraying insecticide
Is it spray once and will have force field of 6 hours killing all mosquitoes?

you know what he said to me? he said then u ask those chinese neighbours not to burn incense. honestly i stayed here for 10months at most smell it less than 5times and i dont really see much people burn. even so special occasion like 15th day of cny people burn kind.

then he said you close your window and door. i wanted to explain further that if he really feel the need to spray at least come inform us to close right, but b4 i had a chance to do so, he shut me off and walked away.
He don't like you. You need to make him like you first then can talk about this.

What you work as?

Have you considered you are the unreasonable nehbour? Its your legal right to trim the tree cause it infringe your area... its also their legal right to spray insecticide.

yah my in law said just tolerate. be nice. say nvm just pay and get private pest killer to spray the outside drains and inform them to close their window and doors. then maybe a week or so ask them how still got mosquito and if still have let us know so maybe we can switch to another pest control company. and if still have mosquito and they need to spray, ask them nicely to inform us 1st

my yard not big, so its not like very big where some leaves doesnt matter. my yard is pretty small so basically our laundry occupies 80% of the space. so very obvious when theres lot of leaves. actually some leaves came from another back neighbour tree but they are too high and they never infridge into our space so ok. but its this neighbour which tree has always hit into our fixture and causing scratches
