Bring the card in your wallet. Unless u insist on having it inside your phone then this card won't do for you.

ah...these days i don't go out with wallet for short trips.....and use mobile contactless all the time while paying with CC whereever possible....

so not gg apply for this liao...even tho UOB just emailed

I guess amex still thrive in the sense of immediate cashback/rebate. so if you spend $100, you only need to pay $98.5 for your bill.
seems like uob absolute still need 1 month later than cashback to you.

It's likely that the cashback for this would be credited in the following month instead within the same statement month unlike AMEX TCB.

A small concern for some people, but for others, depending on the exclusive offers added to the card, this could well be the card to kill the TCB for them.

Overall I think it's a good card that finally do away with all those rubbish exclusions.

But with One card offering up to 5% for $2000, it's hard to pass. Sticking with One card for now.
I have One Card too, but realise that it does not give rebates on insurance premiums which this new card does.

if u use cardup or ipaymy, it is still worth using one card because the 5% (if u do cross $2k total spend) outweighs the fees currently imposed by the middleman. can still get around 3% net cashback.

but if ur monthly total don't cross $2k, then it might be insignificant cos the one card rebate would be 3.33% which after deducting the middleman fee would come back to around 1% - 1.5% so yeah, it'll be better to try this new UOB card.

Somebody said rent payment using cardup wont get cashback from UOB One so after that I didnt pursue. My UOB one card is in my drawer, applied and didnt use it since 6 months already. Should have not applied and instead applied for this absolute card as new to bank, sigh!

Anyways, I just applied for the Absolute card. I will cancel my Amex cards next month.

I really hope that "somebody" is right as I can't think of a reason why someone would wanna pay cardup/ipaymy middleman fees to use their card to pay rent w/o enjoying any cashback or benefits when a simple GIRO arrangement would have suffice..

enjoy the new card from UOB! I'll probably switch next year when my monthly insurance premium ends and I can't hit $2k every month.

May I know what are the benefits of using Absolute than Amex other than 0.2% more cashback? Amex has purchase/refund protection and it can be used on paywave?

The UOB Absolute credit card also supports contactless payments using the physical card (but not currently Apple Pay, etc.)

I don’t see Purchase Protection mentioned in the American Express True Cashback Card’s agreement. Are you seeing anything different? American Express Singapore offers Purchase Protection with some but not all cards issued in Singapore.

For me the main reason would be, Amex you can cancel the cards and reapply after 1yr and enjoy the signup promotion. UOB almost never has any signup promotion, except for like 1st 100 users etc. This was the 1st time they had a generous for all sign up promotion, but I doubt it will continue.

So, I would keep the UOB Amex for regular use and cancel the Amex cards and reapply after 1yr

It's still a hassle to carry the physical card for contactless payment. I think having mobile contactless payment makes a huge difference.

My mistake: "Purchase Protection is only available to Personal, Gold, Platinum and Charter American Express Charge Card Members holding a valid American Express Card". All the while I thought purchase protection is offered universally to all Amex cards.

Ahhh, I see... it's the signup benefit that attracted you. Good to know, thanks.

i remmeber uob one give rebate for cardup and ipaymy, rent or any other merchant. i dont think uob will be able to differentiate your cardup transactions by rent, tax, insurance etc
