I set up my UOB one card bill as one of the giro arrangements. But I noticed that UOB made 2 giro deductions for this card for the month of AUG, one on 2 Aug and the other on 31 Aug. Does that mean I will have 1 less giro payment in Sep? How can they be authorized to make 2 deductions in 1 month?!

No, 13th was confirmed by cso and I also have another uob card with the same statement run. I happened to receive the card on the same date. Will call again to clarify. Thanks!

Aug statement is 1st month, which already passed by the time u received the card. So should be going for prorated 2/3 rebate now.

CSO told you your statement date was 13th or u assumed 13th because you received card on 13th. Statement date not dependent on when u received card.

Think you should call again if you have any doubts

It happened to my card also. Received on the statement date, so my first quarter was 2/3 rebate.

I spoke to UOB mgr and was advised as follow
- interest free instalment on your credit card is not eligible for the $500 monthly spend
- giro to UOb account will not be considered as meeting the 3 giro criteria

Anybody has any experience on this?

any giro should be considered, even giro payment for your uob card from your uob account. i'm not sure what u mean by giro *to* uob account - are you 'charging' your card to allot funds to your uob savings account?

you can actually ask the CSO over the phone to find out how many GIRO arrangements u have and whether u satisfy the 3 giro criteria. he/she can check on the spot.

For different statements? The statement due in sept was dated 3 sept and mine was also deducted on 31 Aug.

$151.98 for 31 days August for bonus interest at $75000. The rest is the base interest on your bank account regardless of $75k or more

mine is only $150.19

transferred $25k before 9am on 1st August. What's the cutoff time for calculation of daily balance?

yup, for different statements. your situation is the same as mine.

This means we don't get 3 giro deductions for the month of Sept, right? which means we don't fulfill the bonus interest condition.

that's not true. I have set my car monthly installments to be paid by giro from my UOB One account, but the car loan happens to be taken from UOB as well. UOB claims that this is not considered a "giro arrangement".

They sure can twist the playing field to their advantage.

i don't think that is giro? that is more like instalment plan... it's not the same I guess?

basically I think the difference in concept is that they cannot be the one who's paying for your car (in this case, the loan is from UOB so they have paid for you to the car retailer) and then use the monthly installment to consider you for bonus interest and pay you the bonus interest. it's a losing business to them :s13:

but if it's giro for UOB card, you are paying your credit card bills so they didn't really pay for you in advance (although they did pay the merchant first before charging you at the end of the statement month), so I guess it's the main difference.

I may be wrong lah. but that's my take on the matter.

Nope, I used to have a car loan with Maybank for my old car, and the installments were paid from my One account via giro, and UOB qualifies that as a valid giro payment. I was receiving the full bonus interest. That was until I changed my car in April this year, and switch to a UOB car loan.

UOB claims that giro is only applicable for interbank/inter-organisation payments, i.e. paying to another bank or organisation, hence my monthly payment for the new car loan is not considered as a valid giro arrangement. Though how this doesn't apply to UOB cards, I don't know. Quite contradictory.
