i like the initiatives by banks to remove physical tokens. whenever my colleagues sees me carrying so many token in a stack, they always thinks i'm crazy.

if the phone is lost, it can be wiped away. the banks don't allow configuring tokens on more than 1 device. so once another new phone is configured, the old device is wiped of its token function. plus u need the passcode or fingerprint to login into the token so it's layers ahead of the physical token.

However for Android security patches are not timely, however I need the OS customization purposes due to work (home screen widgets).

I agree if you are on iPhone, you're good to go.

If you're on Android and money in the bank, better not be complacent unless the bank specifically GUARANTEES that 100% liable for fraudulent transaction due to phone security gaps.
The soft token technology used by UOB and DBS is actually pretty good. However, that's just the soft token technology, the surrounding application can still be messed around with if the overall implementation is not sound. In any case, the bar to hack soft tokens is much much higher than SMS. I would agree it's still not as secure as hardware tokens, but you do have to pay a price for convenience.

My 3rd giro got terminated in Dec. Using tax and UOB Credit Card as the other 2 giros. Does anyone know which is the fastest giro i can apply which can take effect in month of dec? Hoping not to lose interest in month of Dec. Most take 4 weeks and up?

Tried cimb credit card and was advised this will take 4 to 6 wks

How long will giro with nets flashpay card take?

try property tax or town council ... or those that are listed in the UOB online banking

but i think it is difficult to get one set up in time for Dec

even if u miss 1 giro, can always appeal, high chance of success

the concern is whether can get in time for Jan deduction ...

That is a price that customer shouldn't pay, security and peace of mind banking with any particular bank should be a mandatory part of the service. I deem it as necessary. Then customers should have the options to opt for either security or convenience.

Unless the bank is sharing their profits with the customers because they are using deposit to loan to other people at higher interest, in this case customer should share the "risk".

Applied online for the UOB One Account + UOB One credit card in mid-Nov.

One account was opened the next day. Applied for 3 GIROs to be paid from my One Account. Those GIROs were approved in early Dec.

Up to now, my UOB One credit card is still pending. And not to say I am a new-to-bank client, having been banking with UOB for more than 20 years! And having 2 other credit cards from UOB which are paid in full each month. Sigh!!!

No salary credit and only based on card spending and GIRO to UOB One account.

Is UOB currently the winner for earning best interest on 75K?

Even if GIRO "approved" it may not necessary mean the GIRO deduction will take place in Dec. In some cases have to wait for the accounts to be linked up, for deduction in Jan.

They even sent new GIRO deduction schedules along with the approval letters. Govt very efficient especially when it comes to collecting taxes.

No salary credit and only based on card spending and GIRO to UOB One account.

Is UOB currently the winner for earning best interest on 75K?

The EIR for UOB One is 2.44% for $75K IIRC, if you meet all the requirements.

Works for me because my salary goes to DBS which is my main operating account and I get 3.50% there on DBS Multiplier account but only for up to $50K.

Based on my circumstances, I am able to meet the requirements for both accounts hence, together I get $125K automatically earning enhanced interest as opposed to the paltry interest paid on the normal accounts.

Balance got to shift here and there every few months to earn extra interest eg iSavvy, eSaver, HSBC, etc.
