Anyone knows if closing a UOB savings account can be done online, or need to do so personally at physical branch?

iirc CIMB is the only bank that has no fall-below fee for savings accounts. but need min $1k to earn interest.

Better not, they will charge you when you go there close the account. The initial minimum balance for UOB One was $500 I remember. Then, I left $1000 in there and on one occasion it fell to $990 cos of withdrawal. It was below $1000 for months and I did not check. One fine day, I login and saw deduction of $5 per month. I immediately went to the bank to close it. Request for waiver is very tough at UOB. Whereas OCBC will help.

My bonus interest is in for Sept but only received $12. Something is not quite right as I received about $100 for Aug. Checked credit card spend and hit the $500 min and have 3 GIRO transactions.

The only difference for Aug is when I wrote to Geneco (paid via GIRO) to stop renewing my contract. But that expires in Nov.

Interest rate dropped drastically for Aug balance, but still seems low. You have less balance? Confirm have 3 successful giro deductions from uob one account?

$12 is a bit on the low side....

Yah, that's what I thought too. i read about the interest rate drop but the drop is abnormal.

Balance seems about right as even if it's $1,000 lesser than the previous month, there is no reason for the drop. Only reason can think of is one of my giro transactions are not in place.

2 of my giros are to pay UOB credit cards
1 for Geneco.

i shall go check.

damn it. found the problem. a user problem.

there was no spend on my 2nd UOB credit card, hence no giro deduction.
got to remind myself to at least make one transaction on that card.

it's good to have more giro arrangements where possible... i channel all my other card bills to UOB One account. and then there's income tax + property tax...
