I think if they are clear as per listed, we are fine.

If MCC code are not controllable, should we use them ? If you use them knowing that they can be inaccurate, there should be a mechanism to pay back the rebate. Similar to uncontrolled refund.

This mechanism should not be restricted to certain group as now it seems like they do allow many "appeals".

Whether topping up EZ-link card is abusing is subjective. Not many people can chalk up those spending on purely petrol, FnB etc. Not for 3 consecutive months anyway.

Yes we have other cards and it is our prerogative to use it in future. However, we'll need to get back those rebate we've genuinely spent, feedback on the unfair practices to ensure that common consumers are protected.

The T&Cs cannot be only to the bank's advantage.

The Bank’s decision in its sole and absolute discretion on all matters pertaining to the award or use of any or all of the benefits and privileges stated below shall be final and binding on a Cardmember. The benefits and privileges described below may be amended, supplemented or revoked by the Bank at any time in the Bank’s sole and absolute discretion.

i think the most clear is the above part of their t&c.
they deemed the rebates as a form of benefits/privileges and not an entitlement.

as for those uncontrolled situations that u mentioned, sadly no bank will ever convert your problem (consumer) into their problem (bank).
at most they will just act sorry for your problem and out of gd will, they still give u the benefits/privileges.

I would avoid those obviously gov one like ica lta… I also never thought SingPost is classified under gov. It is unexpected.
Change of tnc was released in Dec. Just that it written effective from 1st-Feb. But uob did not clearly explain. Most people understood it will affect those posted from 1st - Feb onwards, never expect Jan spending in Feb statement is effected.

Your cc refund case, you manage to get back both bonus interest and cc cashback? Just give or uob request u to do anything before they can give back?

they just reimbursed the quarterly rebate and bonus interest back to my account, i dont have to do anything. They just told me in general each customer will be given one exception per lifetime, separately for uob quarterly rebate and bonus interest account.

I also encountered this, thought their new T&C effective from 01Feb based on posting date as other banks, but came out to be based on statement date which includes my Jan spending (seldom saw bank using such rule and not specified in their T&C also), so I called in and they credited back the $200 dif for my quarterly $300 rebate in my next statement. It is the easiest appeal so far with ’claw Back king bank’ while my previous appeal mostly were rejected, although I had prepared to write to MAS, luckily no need to do that for this round...

I was given an exception previously when a merchant posted really late (one week+ between transaction and posting date) and another for the recent change in TnC coz I didn't notice charities were also excluded.

Though that could be because it was a universal exception so it didn't count ...

If you always shop at NTUC, then you might wanna get the OCBC NTUC Plus card

otherwise. keep both UOB one and OCBC 365.

UOB one as your main spending card and OCBC for caltex and weekend dining

Both cases can appeal...

For account unsuccessful... Maybe need to deposit money inside. Probably get a black and white from the bank regarding this arrangement.

This happened to my UOB krisflyer account as well. Card approved but account rejected.... Need to go down to a uob branch to put 2k inside

Sent from Henabi virus using GAGT
