just to share

I called UOB to ask about the effective date of the interest rate change. Mine will start in Sep. The CSO said the coming statements will announce each card holder's effective date change in interest so just watch out for it. It will coincide with a new cycle.

Oh shiet.. I have been using UOB One heavily clocking 2k for the longest time and it's now being nerf'd to 3.33% and with a max cap of only $200?

All my main spending cards are being nerf'd badly.. Time to re-strategize again.. Sigh..

With these changes, I feel it might make more sense to hop over HSBC Advance + HSBC EGA combo.. The only thing holding me back now is, HSBC excluding Utilities ..

Not sure if worth the additional effort of calculating and keeping track of spending to $2k (I always exceed to $2.2k ish), versus using something like cashback+instarem (2.1%). It’s around $20/mth difference, the mental load of keeping track, not sure if I should just spare myself from it

how to get 2.1% with cashback + instarem? Which cards do you use?

UOB absolute + Grab
unfortunately don't have the UOB absolute. and since I have the UOB one already... the bank may be niao and not want to waive the annual fees if I have both.

to give up UOB one card also means to give up the UOB one account... one thing links to another...

It is better way off to move to use this UOB absolute + grab combination than to use UOB card + iPayMy/CardUp then. Time to move on.
but then Grabpay annual spend cap at $30k only and you may want to reserve some of the limit for Grab powerup/booster challenge

If your bill can be paid directly (not via AXS) can also consider use Friz debit card for 1.75%.

UOB One for 3.33% + 5% (for spending with partners) still works well for lower spending tiers ($500 or $1000).

it's only for $2000 that maybe need to reconsider if it's worth continuing to use cardup/ipaymy. even so, 1.48% (3.33% - 1.85%) is not *that* far off from 1.7%. just bite the bullet rather than upending so many arrangements. furthermore if can continue to hit $2000, the partner cashback will increase to 6.67%.

personally will likely continue with UOB One. too much hassle to maintain two cards and worry about annual fee waiver... the anxiety can be frustrating.

caveat: I'm assuming UOB will always grant fee waiver if we only have one (1) card with them.

Just have more than one GrabPay account. Sign up your father/mother/wife. With two cards & a combined $60k spend cap, that's probably more than enough for most people's taxes.

If your bill can be paid directly (not via AXS) can also consider use Friz debit card for 1.75%.

Have you got this? Any issue with paying for insurance (directly) with this card?

caveat: I'm assuming UOB will always grant fee waiver if we only have one (1) card with them.

I have 8 credit cards with UOB & have not had an issue with fee waivers in a long long time.
