I also got the same transactions.. and I tried using smrt card also getting the same transactions..
Since other banks also have the same issue for transaction record, I guess Shopee settlement team did some changes recently, not sure why though. I have reached out to Shopee customer service since 18th Feb 2024 but still in the midst of investigation. They advised me to use other methods of payment (other than credit card) in the meantime.

I'm having the same issue. Not sure if the spend will be recognised as eligible spend.

This is the same as my recent purchase on Shopee Supermarket. In an online chat with UOB, it was mentioned that the MCC code is 5399, and it's not on the exclusion list.

However, as many here have mentioned, CSOs can't always be trusted.

the problem with UOB's card cashback is that the bank has not been very transparent (and efficient) when it comes to such matters.

you usually only discover about certain transactions not qualified for cashback AFTER the quarter ends. So if you kena something strange in month 1, you have to wait until the end of month 3 before the bank post the cashback ($50/$100/$200) before you can get the bank to look into the matter. the same goes for the additional 5%/6.67% cashback for those selected merchants.

for the lack of transparency, it becomes the user's (us) work to calculate exactly what cashback we are supposed to get and to flag out issues with the bank when there are differences between what we should get and what the bank actually credited.

such trust issues have become a thorn with several service-based industries (banks, transport, etc.). the recent SimplyGo saga is also something like that.

so if we want to continue to get the cashbacks quarterly, we have no other way but to self-help by calculating the expected amounts and then write in to complain when something is amiss.

a few years ago, their customer service (for card related matters) was top notch. now, it's like :poop:

the tracker only tells you whether you have met the $500 spend to qualify for the one bonus savings account rate.

it doesn't tell you the specific cashback for each transaction, if it qualifies, or not.

there's no tracker for card rebates.

i see, you are referring to the extra rebates, not the 3.33%

but to be fair, not many Banks provide CC tracking for CC rebates ...

UOB CC is tricky bcos of the UOB$ Merchants program ... not sure how widely used that is

i usually have regular spend on the CC. If there is a new spend type, I would live chat the agent to ask them to check ... at least this feature is still available n working well

Yah. The only credit card that I know that tracks card rebate is Maybank Family card.

Btw, those who frequent Malaysia might want to take a look at this card.

Anyone recently bought items from Shopee Supermarket seller and paid via credit card but the transaction on the credit card statement shows as “SHOPEEPAY PRIVATE LIMITED SINGAPORE SG” instead of the usual “Shopee Singapore SINGAPORE SG”?

I ordered the same exact item from Shopee Supermarket and paid via the same credit card, the order on 12th Feb 2024 the transaction shows “Shopee Singapore SINGAPORE SG” and the order on 15th Feb 2024 the transaction shows “SHOPEEPAY PRIVATE LIMITED SINGAPORE SG”. How is it possible when I don’t even have ShopeePay enabled on my Shopee account? :s11:

abQoyig.png
I contacted UOB customer service and was told that it still counts as eligible transaction based on the MCC given by them. But I am still a bit sceptical as sometimes their word is not 100% correct.

Shopee Singapore SINGAPORE SG: MCC 5311
SHOPEEPAY PRIVATE LIMITED SINGAPORE SG: MCC 5399

UOB customer service also told me to contact Shopee customer service which I did as well but will need to wait for them to get back. Either way the transactions are posted already so no way Shopee or UOB can correct the transaction record unless I somehow file for a refund for the Shopee order and order again, even though there's no issue pertaining to the items ordered. To play safe is to assume it's ineligible and spend extra to cover this ambiguous transaction, otherwise there's a risk of not getting 3 months worth rebates.
Just to update, UOB customer service got back to me on 29th Feb 2024 to say that Shopee have communicated with the bank to correct the transaction description and moving forward, transactions related to Shopee Supermarket will be correctly reflected under the transaction record as "Shopee Singapore SINGAPORE" like how it used to be. I had a new transaction from Shopee Supermarket on 4th Mar 2024 and can confirmed that the issue is now rectified.

so which side is taking responsibility for the blunder? shopee... or UOB?

my guess is neither side got the integrity to own up that it's their fault ;)

Not sure whose fault is it since I don’t have enough information on hand.

Side track a bit, I previously submitted 2 paper forms for interbank GIRO for UOB credit card in the same envelope but somehow UOB can claim they only received 1 form and hence only processed 1 GIRO application. Raised the issue for them to investigate on the 1 missing form and I also submitted photo evidence of the 2 forms before mailing it out but UOB can still dare to insist they only received 1 form. Asked for more details about the investigation procedure (like based on what evidence was used to conclude that they did not receive) but they say cannot reveal. Probably they mistook 2 forms as the same and threw 1 of it into the bin so cannot admit their mistake. What a joke.

the bank has so many customers, such individual incident is often considered minor to them.

look at my current 'open case' with them.. since December 2023 till now, still not yet resolved. CSO (by now it's been the same person dealing with my case) also feel paiseh. joke is, the original incident was in May 2023. coming to 10 months...

just feel that customer service is not as what it used to be. especially those who have experienced the good old days.

Quite sure it's not as good as before which honestly is a shame given more digitalisation, you would think the rare time a customer needs support it would be impeccable.

digitization --> more bots and AI take over human touch --> less empathy and understanding of human emotions --> poor customer satisfaction.

it may reach a day where customers would vote with their wallet, if there are even any viable alternatives around then.

I recall the days where you could always get a physical token, when you call the wait time was no more than 10 minutes to speak to a human and not having to jump through the phone banking menu. Annual fee waiver for credit card while not automated, could be easily done on the phone, or even auto waived if you meet the criteria. They even used to call you when you had suspicious transactions on your card or bank account before letting it though (big outward cheques, repeated transactions on a card etc).
