You missed out on the text at the end

GrabTaxi Pte Ltd is registered under the Merchant Category Code 4121, for Taxicabs and Limousines.

Uh think no need to take MCC too literal, what matters is which MCC the transaction is classified under

Definition taken from:
https://www.mastercard.us/content/d.../quick-reference-booklet-merchant-edition.pdf

Page 140:
Identifies the purchase of merchandise or services at a Mastercard customer financial institution location. Such merchandise and services may include checks and other financial products, promotional merchandise, loan fees, and financial counseling service fees.

So I guess insurance premiums is not excluded. If insurance premium is going to be excluded, I think many people will have headache finding another card to charged to, especially for those on monthly giro.

what about insurance premiums? do they fall under:

6012 Member Financial Institution–Merchandise and Services (with effect from 30 November 2019)?

the change is not too difficult to understand, just don't overthink it.

It was ok initially. But the SMS came along and start to cause confusion. And mention UOB One account bonus interest somemore.

I suppose wait out a few days.

Doesn't not attract rebate but counts towards min spending or not for both?

But their sms say additional ones will not be awarded rebates?

With effect from 30 November 2019, please be informed that additional transactions will be excluded from the awarding of cash rebates. For details, click here for the UOB One Card full terms and conditions.

The TnCs is clear. The new exclusions are (Page 4 of the TnCs) - Member Financial Institution–Merchandise and Services (with effect from 30
November 2019); Securities–Brokers and Dealers (with effect from 30 November 2019); Stored Value Card Purchase/Load (with effect from 30 November 2019); Gambling - Betting, including Lottery Tickets, Casino Gaming Chips, Off-Track
Betting, and Wagers at Race Tracks (with effect from 30 November 2019); Organisations, Political (with effect from 30 November 2019)

UOB refer to GRAB as "mobile wallet", not a stored value card/load

I'm just concerned if any of these are newly excluded from CC spend:

Insurance premiums
SimplyGo
Electricity retailer bill

yup, very concerned if insurance premiums are still included or not, especially since they were sold through UOB themselves.

Simply go and electricity should be fine. But i wonder if insurance companies are considered "member financial institutions", what is that anyway?

New subscriber to UOB one Account/Card

Hi I been reading a lot here and still get confused. I'm interested in getting both UOB one account and UOB One card.
So my plan for

UOB one Account (Maintaining $75.5k) - $500 for Giro purposes.
-Every month I will top up $500+- to refill 0.5K
-As for 3 Giro, I wanted to put 3 fixed amount bill but only have 2, so I planned to put the following
- HDB Parking
- MyReplubic Bill
- My Genoco Elec bill (Initially wanna put Town Council but sometime Gov give rebates and no Giro deducted)

UOB One Card
- Because there are too many uncertainly what can be counted as rebates, hence my plan is to get 4 x sure valid (Foodpanda, Petrol, Subway, Mcdonalds, etc) and the last one will be Grab Top up with the balance to meet $500.

With my plan above, am i right to say that i meet all the requirement stated for UOB One account and One Card?

There is no such thing as mobile wallet MCC. I feel we should not console ourselves unless UOB confirms.

Now the situation is not eligible for baseline cashback and excluded from ONE account. And just got 5% extra.

So if $300 other expense and $200 grab topup = $500 x 0% + $200 x 5%. Simplified example without considering the quarter spending.

Think we will only entitle to the additional 5% if we hit the min qualifying spend for 3 consecutive mths.

Where in the t&c that states that grab topup are not eligible for baseline cashback?

What I get from the the new clause "With effect from 30 November 2019, please be informed that additional transactions will be excluded from the awarding of cash rebates. For details, click here for the UOB One Card full terms and conditions."

The term "additional transaction" refers to the 4 newly added transactions to be excluded from cashback. On page 4 of the t&c there's a table.

  1. 6012 Member Financial Institution–Merchandise and Services (with effect from 30 November 2019)
  2. 6211 Securities–Brokers and Dealers (with effect from 30 November 2019)
  3. 6540 Stored Value Card Purchase/Load (with effect from 30 November 2019)
  4. 7995 Gambling - Betting, including Lottery Tickets, Casino Gaming Chips, Off-Trac (with effect from 30 November 2019)

Please do not confuse additional transactions with additional rebates.

So in conclusion, what I got is everything as per normal. They just included 4 new MCC codes to be excluded from cashback eligibility.
