How come this card not popular? 2% cashback and no minimum spend seems like a good deal reh, better than UOB absolute card which gives only 1.7%?

Becuz is UnionPay China one. But it seem quite a lot got merchant got paste this sticker means can take. But some still don't take UnionPay give it more time to be more prevalent in Spore.

Can I check if anyone is using this card - UOB China UnionPay Card recently? I have made two transactions last month in China using AliPay? Under the T&C, the 2% cashback is supposed to be credited on the first working day of the next calendar month. To-date, I have yet to see any cashback. Can I check typically when the cashback will be credited? Thanks!

Might it be excluded as a top up or payment to a wallet or financial institution? I have used the card directly in China and received the higher 5% cashback

I have checked with CSO, she said it is eligible. However, she tried to smoke me to say that i need to spend something in the card before they credit October rebate. I told her that this is not what is written in T&C. She said she will get someone to check and call me back.

wef 1 October 2026, no annual fees, which is surprising, given UOB is one of the most stingy banks

Actually this might now be the best card to travel to PRC with.

2% cashback with no FX fee, no 200 RMB fee-free limit for WeChat Pay / Alipay.

It might even be the best travel card outside PRC, but the acceptance of Alipay may be limited.

Now no FX fees, previously have FX fees. Are you sure about the FX rate without fees? Or your experience is FX rate with fees?
I think he meant UnionPay's CNY exchange rate can sometimes be worse than Mastercard's, not the fees.

UnionPay typically bakes in a higher wholesale spread—historically 1.0% to 1.5% above mid-market rates for CNY conversions, compared to Mastercard’s ~0.3% to 0.5%.

While there is no minimum spend, the maximum cashback you can earn is S$50 per calendar month. Because the card pays a flat 2% cashback, you will hit the S$50 cap once your monthly spending reaches S$2,500.

What would be the recommended card to use when travelling to China?

Overall, this still seems to be the most-cost effective card.

Thank you.

I think for the convenience of not having to worry about the RMB 200 fee-free limit, plus 0.5% higher cashback compared to the next best alternative (MariBank), makes it an attractive card still for WeChat Pay / Alipay

Out of curiosity, I went to look up the exchange rates for CNY to SGD for UnionPay, Mastercard, and Visa.

On 8 October 2026:

UnionPay: 1CNY = 0.19156721 SGD
Mastercard: 1 CNY = 0.1914703 SGD
Visa: 1 CNY = 0.191199 SGD

UnionPay's exchange rate is 0.2% higher than that of Visa and 0.05% higher than that of Mastercard. Which is still OK for me.
