Budget seems to be wrongly emphasised on just price.
Why not trade off lower cost of multimode lasers with local vendor support? Instead you have chosen higher cost Single-mode and cheap out the sourcing.

Anyway, interesting to see single-mode fiber home install... I'll keep in view. I didn't realise, you can buy direct from 10Gtek. That's fantastic.
You should look at post number #28 onwards for I have finalized my setup. Earlier posts just ignore them

I guess you are not located in Singapore. Most people will just ask contractor to replace the LAN cables for them and they just watch the contractor while they work on it. Easy way.

There’s nothing wrong with DIY. But for me, I would have half contract out and half DIY.

I usually will contract and it is my easy way out. Lazy la. Just pay $ to get job done for me. Sometime I make a cup of coffee also too lazy and asked the maid to make a cup of coffee for me.

Coming back again. Lucky I haven't bought any 10G SFP+ switches/transceivers/cables/ethernet adapters.

Instead of my previous whole setup (excluding router/nodes) considering brands like TP-LINK, MIKROTIK and QNAP my new consideration is to use HORACO brand for the whole setup. One great advantage is cheaper using HORACO switches and its devices

Costs Breakdown For 10G SFP+ Upgrade Setup

1) HORACO 12-Port SFP+ Managed Switch – S$324
2) HORACO 8-Port SFP+ Unmanaged Switch – S$111.33
3) MIKROTIK 5-Port SFP+ Managed Switch – S$250 (Shopee Singapore)
4) HORACO 10G SFP+ 10GbE Copper Modules x2 – S$91.72
5) HORACO 10G SFP+ Optical Modules x10 – S$98.4
6) HORACO 0.5m 10G Passive DAC cables x5 – S$63.2

All above from AliExpress. HORACO devices chosen for their price and compatibility with the HORACO switches and, also, with standard 3rd-party devices which are MSA-compliant. In the event HORACO transceiver modules/DAC cables don’t perform (unlikely) my fallback is to use 10GTek brand especially with QNAP NAS/SONNETTECH TB3/4 Ethernet Adapter. Worse to worse to use QNAP/SONNETTECH recommended items.

7) QNAP 10G SFP+ TB3/4 Ethernet Adapter – S$329.73 (Shopee Singapore)
8) SONNETTECH 10G SFP+ TB3/4 Dual-port Ethernet Adapter – S$876.4 (SONNETTECH Store)

Total Costs = S$2034.21 ++

The above 10G setup using SFP+ cannot totally replace my current RJ45 setup because many devices are still using RJ45 ports and LAN cables. As such, my existing RJ45 TP-LINK switches will be used as intermediary between the SFP+ and RJ45 devices. This is also to save costs by utilizing my existing RJ45 switches.

NIC is use in PC, NAS etc. I don't have a PC/NAS now mainly using laptops

I try to have less heat generated on the SFP+ switches so use passive DAC cables in some cases. For longer distances I'm using fiber optic cables

if not taobao adverse, cx4-lx on taobao is 40sgd shipped. sfp+ switches also cheaper than rj45 10GbE ones.

really tough to beat
