Failed to update again.
I am able to accept auto update, but it kept failing and retry.

Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3081436)

Apparently, the method I outlined for hacking the registry on messed-up KB 3081424 problems works to fix the problems in KB 3081436 as well -- on most, but not all, systems. The most common suspect is a bad Nvidia profile called UpdatusUser. Delete that profile, following the instructions, and suddenly KB 3081436 installs correctly.

:s11: can we do a clean installation, upgrading from old OS sure a lot of problems~

Of course you can. Many have done that.
However the source of the problem may not be Windows 10 upgrade.
Google around, hold your horse before doing a clean installation.
Ppl are coming out fixes for the problems encountered.

Microsoft will issue you a new Windows 10 key and Activation is automatic.
You keep your Windows 8.1 key JUST in case your wanna revert back.
It can't be used to activate a Windows 10 OS

I did not bother about the failed update, few days later it suddenly notify to restart and the update was successfully installed. :s13: I think there is some bugs with windows update download.

Upgraded to windows 10 this morning from win 8.1. Did not do a clean install. Took 30 minutes for the upgrade to complete, probably due to the samsung evo 850. I downloaded it 2 weeks ago, but postponed the download till today.

So far no driver issues. Quite happy with win 10.

But no cd key was released to me. Is this normal?

anyone can help me with this? I had been upgrading to windows 10 but there's always no internet access even though it shows that I'm connected to my home network without any yellow exclamation mark. I've tried disabling and enabling my Ethernet and wireless (both have no internet access), downgrading it back to windows 8 and removing all vpn from my computer, turning off windows firewall.

Can use my Windows 8.1 key for activation?

You do not need to enter a product key to activate as long as your Win 8.1 is genuine. The Setup program will asks you to enter a product key twice, just skip pass that box.... it will be activated after installation.

Read this :http://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-quietly-rewrites-its-activation-rules-for-windows-10/

Your Windows 10 license is stored online and linked to your device.

quote "you can reinstall it any time without having to worry about activation. And you'll never need a product key again."

No venture, no gain.
Image your existing OS 1st.
Since you have nothing much to backup, this is the best time to do it.

just upgrade, if anything - can always roll back and backup.

Though i don't deny should image first.

People doing upgrade, should consider to reformat the entire PC after.
The experience is really different totally.

sure, its a preventive measures.
Just in case, suay suay roll back also stuck.

You only need 1/2 hr to format the pc but half a day to install back all the security patches. Not to mention other software applications and utilities tools.

Ok, thanks I assume that my current activation status for my pc is stored online and I can now download the ISO and perform a clean install regardless of whether my pc is still being validated (as shown in the get Windows 10 tray icon)

But then this can only mean that I will not be able to transfer the key over to a new machine in the future as well.

Suddenly my W10 keeps waking up from sleep by itself. Could be the last update that did it. Anyone encounter this?
