Stock market news live updates: Nasdaq jumps 0.9% as tech stocks leap while Dow drops 210 points, or 0.6%
June 18, 2021,

Stocks traded mixed on Thursday as investors contemplated the Federal Reserve's latest monetary policy decision and updated projections, which signaled a quicker path to higher interest rates than previously anticipated.

While the Fed left rates on hold at the conclusion of this month's meeting and kept the pace of asset purchases unchanged, market participants are now gearing up for a potentially less accommodative tilt to Fed policy.

Monthly Dividend Stock In Focus: Realty Income
June 8th, 2021

Realty Income’s 4% current yield is lower than many REITs, but that is because the trust has a track record of success that is unrivaled. This leads to investors paying a premium for the stock, driving the yield lower.

However, for income investors looking for a yield that is twice the broader market and a secure payout, Realty Income fits the bill. This is not a growth stock, but from a pure current income and dividend growth perspective, Realty Income is difficult to beat.

The valuation is a bit high at ~20 times this year’s expected FFO-per-share, while we assess fair value at 18 times FFO. As a result, Realty Income’s elevated valuation could limit its total returns over the next several years. Even so, Realty Income is arguably the top monthly dividend stock in terms of business quality and dividend safety.

Monthly Dividend Stock In Focus: Dream Office REIT
June 17th, 2021

Dream Office REIT’s high dividend yield and monthly dividend payments make it appealing to income investors. Its long-term fundamental outlook is also quite favorable, and we see moderate levels of growth in the coming years.

The 2017 dividend cut looms large for investors as the yield is much lower than it once was for Dream Office stock. But the current payout is well covered, and we view it as safe, even with COVID-19 impacts. Overall, the stock is moderately appealing for income investors.

Amazon and Other Tech Giants Race to Buy Up Renewable Energy
June 23, 2021

The scale of these investments is placing the tech companies under pressure to show that the projects actually add new renewable capacity to the energy grid instead of sucking up pre-existing supply. A thorny issue is whether tech companies’ green-power purchases replace power generated from carbon-emitting plants or simply increase power generation to feed growing global energy consumption. That is important because the companies want to tell consumers and investors that they are helping to reduce absolute carbon output, not just shifting it around.
