"The January launch of C-Band and expansion of our 5G Ultra Wideband network helped to amplify our fixed wireless momentum in both Consumer and Business, with quarterly additions 2.5 times that of our fourth-quarter performance, and drove momentum in wireless upgrades. We continue to accelerate our C-Band network build with our goal of reaching at least 175 million people by the end of the year and, with the recent early clearing spectrum announcement, we now have the ability to deploy more of this spectrum a full year sooner.”

McDonald’s revenue tops estimates, fueled by price hikes and overseas same-store sales growth
APR 28 2022

McDonald’s on Thursday reported better-than-expected earnings and revenue, fueled by price hikes in the U.S. and strong international sales growth.

But the war in Ukraine and inflation in the fast-food giant’s home market loomed large over its quarterly report.

McDonald's left with millions of dollars of Russian food it can't use
April 28, 2022

McDonald's exit from Russia is costing it a lot of money — and food.

The company announced last month that it would temporarily close its restaurants in Russia because of the country's invasion of Ukraine. It also closed restaurants in Ukraine. Those shutdowns cost McDonald's $127 million last quarter.
McDonald's said in March that it would continue to pay its 62,000 Russian employees, despite shuttering operations in the country. CEO Chris Kempczinski added during a Thursday call with analysts that McDonald's is supporting Ukrainian employees too: "In both countries, we have continued to pay employees and provide additional support."

by right if bad news share price shud drop. if u only invest based on news, too late. alrdy priced in or alrdy big boys got news we dun hav.

EVALUATE
Factors to consider before investing
All investments are subject to risk. Risk refers to the possibility of losing part or even all of your investments due to financial market changes.

Understanding the risks of various investment options can help you better decide which investments best match your investment goals, risk tolerance and personal circumstances.

Investment goal
Understand why you are investing and set an investment objective (e.g. a long-term goal of growing your savings to $X at the end of 25 years for retirement).

Risk tolerance
Ask yourself:
  • What’s the amount of risk you’re comfortable with and can afford to take?
  • Can you handle temporary short-term losses in your investments?
  • Do you have enough savings to absorb the investment risks?

Investment time horizon
Consider the duration of your investments. As CPF savings are meant for your retirement, they're generally for long-term purposes unless you’re nearing retirement or have a short-term investment time horizon for other reasons.

Overall financial situation
Consider your financial commitments and the amount of money you'll need to sustain your lifestyle during retirement. If you have other assets set aside for retirement besides your CPF savings, how are these assets invested?

Opportunity costs
Consider the interest rates that you're earning from your CPF accounts and the cost of investments (i.e. fees and charges for investing in the product).

Only invest your CPF savings if you’re confident of earning more than the CPF interest.

for CPF investments, which mostly cannot use to buy US shares directly, but the principal is there for basic of investing.

For Swiss ADRs (for e.g. ABB), would it be more tax efficient to buy the counter direct on the Swiss exchange (for e.g. ABBN)? Not sure if anyone studied the tax implications for this one.
