U.S. officials plan to release 6.4 million COVID-19 vaccine doses in first distribution
NOVEMBER 25, 2020

Officials from the government’s Operation Warp Speed program told reporters that states and other jurisdictions had been informed on Friday of their estimated vaccine allocations in the first shipments so they can begin planning for how to best distribute it to their high-risk populations.

Pfizer, which developed its vaccine with German partner BioNTech SE and others involved in shipping and handling of the vaccines have begun rehearsed dry-runs so that they can ensure the distribution infrastructure is functioning properly, the officials said.

States have developed individual plans that prioritize who will be among the first to receive vaccine doses as they become available. Many states have said they plan to vaccinate frontline healthcare workers and nursing home residents in their first push.

amdk satki aldy hav plan.
sadly over here only giv sketchy outlines at best. not forward looking. only reactive.

Where next for the Dow after breaking above 30,000?
November 25, 2020

Biden rebuilding the economy
News that ex-Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen will be Treasury Secretary also gave the markets a boost given that she is seen as a market friendly candidate and one who will work closely with Jerome Powell. Markets are interpreting her appointment as a sign that Joe Biden could focus more on rebuilding the economy than rather than pursuing aggressive regulatory policy.

So could the Dow have more room to rally?
When big milestones are reached this can provoke Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) making a deep selloff after the milestone less likely. That said given the rapid run up from the lows could mean it needs to consolidate. As a result, reaching 40,000 could take longer than the 20,000 – 30,000 run up. There’s also a good chance that the market will want to see some more stimulus before pushing too much higher.

Sectors to watch
Tech is expected to remain a favourite but could well be joined by other sectors and industries. More recently investors have been backing cyclical stocks such as industrials, materials and financials. These are sectors that will do well when the economy reopens and rebounds next year

Health related stocks such as Johnson & Johnson, United Health could also have plenty of upside. Healthcare stocks have underperformed for a good part of the year on fears that a progressive Democrat in the White House would change healthcare legislation. The group has advanced since Joe Biden won, but there could well be more steam left in this rally , especially if a Blue wave looks less likely

u hav to sacrifice some capital gains for divs . so u will be prob looking at strong companies like aapl, msft for ~1% dy while waiting for their price to appreciate.
if u want like 2-4% div, hav to be realistic dat they will grow slower, like ADM, KO. still will grow, but unlikely same like the NIO, SE type.

so bottom line is look for tried and tested companied with strong balance sheet and cash flow, who can pay a dividend and still the management want to expand the company.

not silly at all.

sg div are taxed at corporate level, so it is oso tax, just dat u dun see only.
oso sg div are regulated. see recent banks hav to cut div becoz some MAS says so. mostly if strong US stocks, decision to pay div will be made by directors.

US div has longer history. can see whether they can withstand crisis and still maintain div payout. compare with like DBS or sheng siong, shorter history. more confident dat US companies can continue their payouts and still increase share price. hav not calculated yet, but i think the increase price can make up for the withholding tax.
in no way i am saying DBS, sheng siong are not good. i oso hav positions in sg stocks, but maybe like 10% of my overall portfolio.

lastly, a small factor, sg still hav commissions. if u lump sum kind, sg stock maybe better. save on comms. if DCA a small sum evy mth, may be paying more comms in the long run.

so all in all it 'doesn't really matter' if you buy US or SG DVD stocks..
perhaps one thing to take note is the USD-SGD ( really a non issue if you're re-investing ) untill you convert to SGD..

brief google and found this link
https://www.investors.com/research/best-dividend-stocks/

so perhaps Broadcom or TI ?

thanks

i sort of agree dat prices hav ran up and now is a bit overvalue. but if choose betw broadcom and txn, txn seems better in terms of ROE, net margin, lower debt.
but i dun know who are txn customers, are txn and broadcom direct competitors etc to determine who has stronger "moat" and holding power in case of further recession.

TI's main competitor is more Analog Devices Inc.
Broadcom is more focus on chips for wireless

DIS Nov 2020

Disney is a strong and diversified business that is expected to generate approximately -4.5% returns per year over the next five years. Changes in valuation will likely play a significant role in the total return expectations, which are challenging to predict in advance. We consider the stock to be a sell at current prices.

NVDA Nov 2020
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hn9P7kzuuv5pnYtLiDNCN4KAawoW7LZi/view?usp=sharing

NVIDIA’s third quarter earnings results were very strong, as the company reported sizeable revenue and profit growth and easily beat estimates. NVIDIA has a very positive long-term growth outlook, mainly due to its potential in AI and data centers. We believe that shares are substantially overvalued today, however, which weakens the total return outlook. We rate NVIDIA’s volatile stock a sell at the current price, mainly due to its high valuation.

for reference only.
