2 knobs can't be helped cos of the piping system. even in brand new buildings, they also tend to have that. actually, that's better cos can adjust the temp to needs. you might want much hotter water when its cold. :p

I don't see how it is better compared to having a handle which you can twist to either sides to choose your choice of water temperature. It's smoother and less hassle of having to 'adjust' both knobs.

I felt like I wasted half a minute getting my desired temperature everytime I took a bath. That's a waste of water to me too.

Hi

I heard that if we apply a visa in Singapore to go states, we can go through the security check and everything at a faster rate?
Is it true?

That's news to me if so. Even I am having green card I don't see a diff. I also have twic no difference. In fact twic is issued by TSA but it cause more issues.

Is VISA the same as ESTA? Don't know anything about this but I do know you MUST apply for ESTA to enter the states?

Don't know about you but being a first time traveler, I spent about 3 minutes at the checkpoint to have my fingerprints scanned and off I went. Wonder how much faster could it get.

What visa are you talking about?

Whatever visa you apply, you would still have to go through the same long queue for immigration. Even longer wait if you have immigration visa. Same for security checks, unless you are holding a diplomatic passport and demand to be not checked. IIRC, sg does not offer any faster option through security. Japan should have for elite frequent fliers and passengers in premium classes, same for outbound from USA. Only faster options would be to pay for TSA Pre, Global Entry, NEXUS or SENTRI.

Ohh, knobs or handles depend on what kind of taps they use. My tub uses one knob with adjustible water temp. Bathroom sink use 2 knob. Kitchen sink use a long handle. In general water temp adjust v fast. Maybe place you stayed older so...

It is an old Victorian house. :s8:

Yet I still see two knobs when I frequent restrooms and other houses too!

And your Metro system using a flimsy card to swipe...such old technology!

MTA is operating at a lost, city and state not rich. It will be hard to see the trains getting an upgrade. Our mrt at least sees a 100mil profit

Hong Kong’s subway system is fancier than New York City’s

+ many of the lines and stations are very old. Some were built prewar. So it takes a lot of $ just to maintain those. then they need to spend $ on trains, new lines, etc etc. I remember reading that they plan to upgrade to a new contactless card system but that will probably take quite a bit of time.

paul02>I think its really your luck with the shower taps. The place you stayed in is older so maybe that's probably why there were 2 knobs. A cursory search at a hotel in NYC shows that there is only 1 lever for the shower.

MTA is government subsidised? If so, that is the reason why they have issues.

On the other hand, SMRT is a private company exploiting our pockets.

It was the place I stayed in then. I do recall seeing two-knobs/handle for hot and cold water at the toilet I visited at Chelsea's Market too though!
