Hey! Need some help regarding a solo trip to USA. Plan to do a slightly budget trip over to experience how is it like in US.
Is there any itinerary for reference?
Edit: Not yet decided on which city.
New York/Boston/LA/SF which is more newbie-friendly
So I'm biased here, but I really like SF. I feel like it's newbie-friendly; it's a bit closer than NYC; and the weather will be nicer, especially if you're over here in the northern winter.
I'd say if you like the city, go to the east coast because that's where the big cities are; if you like the outdoors, go to the west coast, because that's where the great outdoors is.
Yeah I saw a friend's vacation pics of Utah, went to this amazing place called Antelope Canyon, looks amazing. Then there's the salt flats as well. I think I'll dedicate more time to Utah then, the West coast is rly amazing for outdoor activities.
Good pick. And yeah, Antelope Canyon is just near Page, on the way down from Moab to the Grand Canyon.
In July, i will be going to Vancouver, canada for 5 days work, then 2 days work in San Jose..
whats there in San Jose at night? i have the nights free and 1/2 day on the 3rd day.
Eh. Honestly San Jose at night is not particularly exciting - that's why everyone goes to San Francisco instead. The Tech Museum is pretty good fun, I guess, and Santana Row is where all the nice shops are, but that's the only thing that comes to mind.
I will then take a bus to San Franc to meet my gf. spend 1.5 days there.
recommend me the bus (from SJC to SFC) and hotel (4* in SFC? What to do in SFC? first time in USA
The easiest way to get from San Jose to SF is definitely Caltrain - it takes a couple of hours, runs 15 or 20 times a day, and it only costs about $20.
For a hotel - we need to know your price range and your dates, otherwise I'm just going to go ahead and recommend the Palomar.
What are the must go places?
As for "what to do in SF" - absolutely everything. Rent a bike and go all around the city - hit up Golden Gate Park and the Cal Academy museum; bike all the way up across the GG Bridge and down to Sausalito, then take the ferry back; head down to Valencia Street or Hayes Street for some great shopping and food; I guess there's the touristy stuff like Pier 39; and you can even hop on the BART train over to Berkeley and get some awesome, ridiculously cheap food.
And also, i want to buy things from USA. what should i buy there? I am a HWZ person, looking to buy intel NUC, iwatch, anything off amazon?
what are the must buys? Amazon can ship to me on time?
Don't bother with Apple stuff - Apple's pretty good about maintaining its retail prices across the world. You might get things a little bit cheaper, but no guarantees.
Amazon can probably ship to you, yes - just get it shipped to your hotel.
Public transport in SF is bad.....that's what all my American friends tell me. Apparently the public transport in NY is so much better.
Nah, SF public transport is fine, it's just that the coverage could be a bit better (and the buses are dog-slow). You can get pretty much anywhere you want to go in SF.
