Questions!
1. Saw some of you recommending going cashless. Won't the bank exchange rate kill?

2. How much shopping would a regular guy do? Not that into branded, but will gian when a nice pair of sports shoes present itself

Branded in SG is like normal in states
Ralph Lauren polo or shirt is like us$30 each
Your Nike or UA or converse can go as low as us$40
Nice sports shoes can be very expensive all depends on how nice

Arizona's daylight savings policy, like a lot of other things about Arizona, is deeply weird. Most US states observe daylight saving. Arizona doesn't—except on Navajo reservations within Arizona, which do observe daylight saving. Yes, this is insane.

So when you drive from Zion (which is in Utah, and does observe daylight savings) to Page (which is in Arizona, and doesn't etc etc etc), you'll have to set your clock back an hour.

I'm told that Page, and the travel companies based out of there, aren't on Navajo land, so they don't observe daylight savings time... but it never hurts to email them and ask.

Is it worth going to the Niagara Falls, NY outlet mall? I have a free day in Buffalo. Not decided what to do. The Amtrak leaves at 11.59pm so I have plenty of time! I will be in Buffalo on a Monday.

Will be going to a small city around boston next week. Need some advice for the data sim as this is my first trip to USA.

Should I purchase the data sim in USA or should I apply for the m1 data passport? Pls advise cause I try to read up online but it seem very confusing. Us data sim do not have unlimited plan?

I looked at the m1 data passport and thought it was a pretty good deal. My considerations:

1. do you need to make local calls in USA? If so, it might be better to get a local SIM
2. do you have significant data for use there? I'm going to budget 3-4GB (just in case) so asking my wife to top up her data for that month if that's possible
3. Sign up via the M1 app or website. then switch to their preferred network (AT&T). Been seeing feedback that this provider has good coverage in the states

I'm in Wiscasset. I'm on Singtel and it uses AT&T and there's coverage.

I was in smaller towns like Connellsville, Meyersdale and Cumberland and was on Starhub, also on AT&T, there was reception (data), but I had no coverage in Rockwood and Little Orleans.

Many thks. I think I should not need to make any calls. Data should be enough for me since watsapp can do data call as well.

As for data usage, this is what I worried too. I only have 3gb of data so not sure if it will be enough for my usage or not. Hahaha. Will be at us for about 20 days though.

Currently I also looking at starhub data sim as well. It is giving out 2.4gb data at $15 for 30 days and can be used at the states as well. Looks like a good buy too.

By the way, shouldnt t mobile the better choice? So now is at&t the better choice for our SG telco?

Vodaphone and at&t has the highest coverage now. T-mobile is catching up and may take a few years.

anybody can share where to go in florida?

Sure! Aside from the Orlando theme parks, which you already seem to know about:

  • Cape Canaveral is up near Orlando; if you're a space nerd, it's a great place to visit. The coast from Orlando down to Miami is full of cute little beach towns, as well.
  • Miami is amazing - it's heavily Cuban- and Latin-American-influenced, with incredible food (take a food tour through Little Havana!), charming architecture (take an art-deco tour through South Beach!), and lots of cool modern art and shopping in the Wynwood district. Stay in South Beach, and take taxis or Uber to get around.
  • The Overseas Highway, down the Florida Keys to Key West, is one of the most magical drives in the USA. It takes you along a string of islands that are scattered out into the Caribbean, with great little seafood restaurants on the way; and you end up in Key West, a colourful little village with great shopping, warm Caribbean waters to swim in, and lots of history (visit Ernest Hemingway's house!).

If you really want to do Florida: start in Orlando, drive to Miami, spend a couple of nights on South Beach, then drive down to Key West and fly home from there.
