Anyone has recommendations for navigation apps? Or just use Google maps?

Use Google Maps. I used to recommend buying the Navigon USA app so you can get around without cellphone coverage, but now that you can download offline maps in Google Maps there's no need for Navigon. Just make sure to download the areas you're headed to while you're on wifi.

The travel ban has been repeatedly shot down by the courts, and "extreme vetting" is just Donald Trump's equivalent of talking cock on EDMW. Come on over.

Read some of you advising to do open jaw, but that option seems much more expensive as compared to return tickets?? Considering the SF LV LA route

Really? It should be pretty close to the cost of a round-trip, especially since most airlines these days seem to construct their round-trip prices out of two one-way legs (United does this). Might be a quirk of the airline or the dates you're looking at?

Taking SQ for example, searching multicity disallows the passenger from choosing Economy Saver fares leh.

I'm looking at Cathay $1k return tics to SF which ends today for Oct. Worth it to make a loop back you think?

Edit: Booked!

Booked GcTours tomorrow and the day after. From Vegas to GC and Antelope Canyon.
Not too sure about LA but I think it's way too long a bus ride for that journey to and fro.
My trip originating from Vegas will take the whole day morning to night already.

Would this be a good segregation of 14 nights?

2 SF Union Square area > 1 Yosemite > 1 Bishop > 1 Death Valley > 2 LV > 1 GC South Rim > 2 West LA > 1 Pismo Beach > 1 Big Sur > 2 SF

Gonna book accommodation after hearing your opinions TIA!

Edit: Oct trip!

Yes, but keep in mind you can only do that Yosemite-Bishop leg while the Tioga Pass road is open, between about July and October. If you're outside that window, you'll want to delete Bishop and go straight from Yosemite to Death Valley.

LV to GC is a day trip.
LA to Yosemite, 5-6 hours drive, is a multi days trip.
SF to Yosemite, 4-5 hours drive, is also a multi days trip.

I would rather spend some time in each location, otherwise it is more like just see the place from the car without disembarking and then drive back again.

Received word from Furnace Creek Resort (now called The Oasis at Death Valley) that their entire lodging area is undergoing a major renovation. The cabins are closed indefinitely, and that there is no scheduled date as to when they will become available.

Where to stay at Death Valley liddat.. Longstreet Inn?

I'm seeing openings at the Ranch in mid-October; you can also try the Stovepipe Wells Village Hotel (still in the park).

If both of those are booked solid, you're going to have to look outside the park, and you're probably going to want to look on the Nevada side. Check out Beatty (which doesn't have anything better than a Motel 6) or Pahrump (which at least has a Holiday Inn Express and some casinos).

Questions!
1. Saw some of you recommending going cashless. Won't the bank exchange rate kill?

2. How much shopping would a regular guy do? Not that into branded, but will gian when a nice pair of sports shoes present itself

3. How much would i expect to spend a day at West Coast cities? Excluding gambling. i.e. how much would a decent meal cost?

1) Nope, the exchange rates on credit cards are usually fine (like 1-2% depending on your issuer). I always go cashless when I travel, except for like $100 for emergencies.

2) Sneakerhead? You're going to like Shiekh (sic); they've got a store on Market Street in San Francisco and I'm unreliably informed that they have a pretty amazing range of limited editions. Anyway, you'd be surprised: I always used to do a ton of shopping when I lived in Singapore but was visiting the states; there's a lot of great menswear from local brands that you just can't get outside the country.

3) Expect to pay $30-$50 for a nice dinner in SF or LA; $15-25 elsewhere. Probably budget $100 a day for accommodation outside the big cities, and another $100 for miscellany; call it $200 USD a day and you'll be fine.

4) Oh hey, it's in Amargosa Valley - home of the World's Largest Firecracker and the Area 51 Alien Center And Truck Stop.. You're going to get an interesting taste of rural Nevada.
