If you are a singaporean, just have a biometric passport, apply for ESTA, and fill up a customs declaration form upon arrival.

Hollywood area: Holiday inn, hollywood heights hotel and best western all side by side.

I stayed at best western cos the other 2 were fully booked then. hollywood heights looks like the nicest of the lot from outside. see which one have free parking.

Stayed at holiday inn in anaheim too. was good, first bfast in america at the hotels that actually serve bacons, eggs etc. usually only toast. heh. has free parking too.

Hi,

Me and my friend are planning to go to philadelphia. Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what we can do there and nice food to eat? Our main aim was to go there try the philly cheesesteak, visit the liberty bell and independence hall.

No need biometric. I didn't have a biometric. Only need to fill up ESTA and pay that USD14.

Good bid. Too bad we cannot access Priceline.com directly and have to go through Priceline.com.sg itself and pay those middleman fees.

A tip for those who want to enjoy the legendary In-and-Out burger.

Take-out is faster than drive-thru. Believe it!

I was at the LV outlet and I saw all the cars on the queue for the drive-thru. So I drove into the parking lot, parked. Went in knowing I will not be able to get a seat, asked for take-out. Within a short while, got my Double-double in animal style and walked to my car to enjoy.

YEAH very very true ;)

We were at LV also, parked outside with the intention of take away because the drive-thru queue was so long!!! Just nice one group left so we managed to get a table. The fries really taste like potato chips

I wonder why McDonalds and BK cannot make such wonder burgers. You can really taste potatoes when eating the fries, and the lettuce and tomatoes make the burger very fresh.

READ the ESTA and Visa waiver requirements. Biometric passport is required. Dont' ask people to play punk with DHS and TSA.

I went through without the biometric passport. For SG it is OK. No need to go out of the way to get a biometric passport when yours has not expired yet. I was not detained or anything. I have called up the embassy and checked. They asked DHS and TSA for me.

A lesson here for everyone. What is written in a website does not translate to concrete action because these are government agencies. They hardly talk to one another unless you ask them to. :s13:

Cold? Just go walgreens, CVS etc to get some nedicine

For those new to US, Walgreens and CVS are everywhere. They are the equivalent to our Guardian and Watsons.

The difference is that they are more like a 7-11 as well. Selling drinks, snacks and even souvenirs!

Things I think those going to SF, LV and GC might consider. I suffered very bad dry nose. Saline nasal spray is recommended. I was squirting the stuff into my nose every half hour. One day it ran dry. Next morning, I got a nose bleed that leaked from my nose. Put tissue there and the tissue just got redder and redder. Awful!

Air is very dry especially if you are visiting the UT and AZ NPs. Desert air is dry even if it is a hot day. There is dry pain on your nose if you exert yourself too hard.

Painkiller. Get their housebrand ibuprofen. Just in case you get fever or something. I had swollen gums and the ibuprofen took care of it and the swelling went down. I got a 50 tablet bottle. Took 2X 200mg every 4-6hrs until the swelling subsided.

Finally, if you cannot take it and your nose is watering like crazy because instead of drying up like mine, your nose profusely became runny, get their cold medicine. My wife got a runny one so I got her the chlorphenamine+phenylephrine combo. House brand also. Cheap for 50 tablets at USD3.80
