Ahh GC! I took the helicopter ride and landed at the bottom and had a champagne brunch there. Paid about 300usd. Not cheap but definitely worth the experience.

Though you probably could get cheaper ones at tix4tonight booths.

Must visit Factory Outlet is the one outside NYC, about an hour plus - in Apple Valley (could be Central Valley, I forgot). Woodbury Premium Outlet - MUST visit if you like shopping, in my opinion. When I was living in Boston, used to drive 3 1/2 - 4 hours just to get there. Also Filene's Basement in NYC. Some pretty good bargain have been had.

What sort of accommodation etc are you looking for?
I'm happy to help as much as I can. PM me if need to. Am still a Singaporean :) but have lived in the USA for more than 10 years.

March is cold. In the past, we've had some pretty heavy snow days in March.

For comfy reasonable airfare, I would say Virgin American is my first choice. I commute between Boston, NY and CA and fly Virgin whenever possible. And one of the tricks, well, not tricks, but one way for an upgrade and a cheaper than the actual published price on Virgin America's website is to ask at the counter if there are either bulkhead seats or First Class seats available for an upgrade.

To me, it's worth the money because you have 1 free check-in when flying their bulkhead and 2 free check-ins (bags) when flying First.

Hope this is of some help.
Good Luck :)

Is this useful ( good price ) for shows or musicals? BTW, for comparison how does the price in general compared to musicals from westend vs broadway/vegas?

Definitely. Watched the david copperfield show while I was there, got the ticket for about 40% off. Try to go early, seats are limited I believe. They'll give you a ticket where you can then go to the box office at the location of the show and that's where they allocate your seats to you.

Not too sure man. Only caught the DC show at MGM.

The tix4tonight booth even sell meal coupons. Like you pay $5 for this coupon, then you can get like 20% off your food at those famous restaurants like Wolfgang Puck. And some of the deals even go up to 70% off. Like a usd8.99 buffet @ Flamingo.

Don't know why, the post I read and replied to about the outlets wasn't the latest (from 2010!! About to faint from embarrassment! Not sure why the last page seems to be the oldest posts....). Very Sorry.

I'm in SF, so help/question is needed, just let me know.
Vegas, if you like buffet, the ones at Caeser's Palace, though more expensive has higher quality yummies. Bellagio's is great (my grandmother loves it).

SF/NAPA - Hot Air Balloon Champagne Breakfast is a should try.

And from SF to Vegas, Virgin America is great. And I paid $75 at the counter to upgrade to First Class, which ends up to actually costing less because I checked in 2 bags and it's free to check in 2 bags in first class.

Grand Canyon, didn't do the helicoptor ride, but took the mule down the Canyon. Exhilirating experience.

Have you made rental car reservations yet? Sometimes, can get discount code.

Have a fun-filled vacation :)

I forgot..Todai is delicious. I prefer dinner though.

And one thing - if you like crab, there's a crab restaurant at Pier 39 in SF - super delicious!

I'd be driving to San Diego from Vegas with shopping in between ( also to rest ) and I'd be reaching there maybe in the late mornings.

Hence likely I'd be reaching maybe in the afternoon ( or late ? ), I was wondering what can we do here since we'd be going to Sea World the next day? Or should I take it easy for a rest.

Any activity that can be done? I read there's a USS ship museum not sure if time is sufficient.

Thanks

How does ppl drive 6 hrs from Vegas? How do they plan then?

I drove from lv to south rim. Stopped at Hoover dam on the way, stayed at a lodge at GC to catch sunset and sunrise. If you're intending to stay a night, please book very early!

Nope we bought from tix4tonight not realizing phantom had their own promo so the price was about the same. Suggest u check the show websites to see if they havin their own promo too.

It was my second time watching phantom and the Vegas one was better than the Singapore one!

Hi folks,
Going for a short visit(1-2 weeks) to the US. Would like to have prepaid voice/data sim while in the US. Infact data plan(1-2GB) alone is also sufficient. Any suggestions on which provider/plan etc? and where to buy?

thanks :)

Go to Best Buy and get a tourist phone. Cheaper than a data plan.

Miss this post of yours. 3 months is too late.

Remember, if you are going in summer, North Rim is nearer to Las Vegas. Grand Canyon Lodge at North Rim must book 1 year in advance! :s22:

South rim got more accommodations but for summer, confirm 3 months advance not enough. Also very ex as you draw closer. You can try staying there in winter. Got different feel when the ledges are covered in snow. I would love take a picture of that.

The data plan is like very expensive. I was there for a week and wanted a data plan. In the end drop the idea.

The phone is like USD9 and the SIM around USD20. So thereabouts USD30 and the SIM got many minutes of call time.

As for data, just use SG provider data plan. I think overseas capped at SGD15 a day. I think Singtel 3 days roaming data is SGD30. No bill shock. The bill shock is the roaming calls and SMS.

Hotel wifi is more expensive than our roaming data from what I found out.

BTW, the disposable phone came with pouch, travel charger and car charger!
