Hello! I will be travelling to LA in November for a conference. Just few questions to ask:

1) Thinking of doing a day trip to disneyland - was wondering if a day would be enough or that i may have to do a 2D1N trip there

Disneyland in 1 day? That means you can only touch and go as most rides need to queue for 30 minures or so, longer for those popular rides. It will be tiring, as you will be rushing to queue for rides...
There is a chinatown in downtown LA.

Washington DC or Washington state? If state you plan on seeing places in the entire state or limited to certain cities?

Washington DC and I only have 7 days there so would not want to travel too far out to other states. Thanks.

Arlington, Virginia is just across the bridge, probably 5 to 10 mins away (of cos depending on from which part of DC). The metro serves Maryland, Virginia and DC.

DC (from the Union Station) to Baltimore is only an hour away by train and cost US$7/way.

Heard Harper's Ferry is nice but it was a dead town when I arrived at 5ish in the evening. There's supposedly a good ice-cream store, Scoop's Ice Cream.

One or two day for the National Mall, depending on number of museums/monument u want to go

You can apply for White House Tour though local MP Norton's office at https://norton.house.gov/services/tours-and-tickets. Not sure if Trump administration now allows non-americans to tour though.. Courtesy of her office, I got my tour passes during the final months of Obama's term :s22:
Do sign up for the Capitol Building tour too.. the interior esp the Rotunda is breathtaking

If you're into US Civil War history, Harper's Ferry will interest you else it'll be like Malacca with nice scenery. This will require one day car rental and you can pair it with a visit to Sharpsburg nearby for the Antietam battlefield (the bloodiest one day battle).

Another one day drive you can do is the Skyline drive at Shenandoah National Park.

Cool thanks. If more than 3 hours of traveling time, then need to think.

Thanks for the details. With only 7 days in DC, I think I can't do much esp going to Disneyland or any other adjustment parks? Any nature parks or equivalent as I am a more nature person.

I haven't read about US travel so person me on some of my queues.

Hi All,

any suggestions or recommendations for a reputable car rental company for LA-LV-SF?

Hertz, reputable and expensive but won't overcharge after return.

Don't use payless or Fox.

Enterprise is good consumer level rental. Hertz and Avis are getting most of revenue from corporate customers and their rates are high. National is good alternative to Enterprise.
