Just want to check rite, how many of the following items will get me stopped at the airport security check if I put them in carry on luggage?

Bengawan Solo Love Letters, Kueh Lapis, Pandan Chiffon, Lapis Sagu
Golden Duck Salted Egg Yolk Fish Skin

Also is it safe to check in luggage if I'm flying United Airlines with transfer to domestic at LAX?

Domestic also UA?
If yes then request luggage check through.

NOT POSSIBLE.

Passengers on all international flights to the U.S. are processed upon arrival at their first airport in the U.S. (including transit passengers).

Flying in from overseas can I check my baggage through to my final destination?

No. When entering the United States from overseas, you must obtain your luggage and bring them through Customs and Border Protection (CBP), then check them back into the airlines to make your next flight. Baggage not obtained after your international flight will not get to your final destination.

That is correct, immigration/customs and baggage checks are conducted on first port of entry into a country. So if you're transiting to another domestic flight, you have to retrieve your luggage for baggage inspection after immigration/customs.

If you travel to US (often or not), Global Entry is worth the US$100 fee (5 years validity). It also includes TSA Pre-Check which has a dedicated/expedited lane for departure flights on eligible airlines.

Used it about three times so far, enjoyed it.

So, I need to retrieve any checked in luggage at LAX before checking in it again for the domestic light to EWR?

Emergency exit seat hard to get, usually they indicate extra US$50 for that row.

I prefer eva air premium economy anytime, way comfortable and better than SQ.

Will be waiting for SQ to implement the new fare structure before booking. Seems like standard will be able to upgrade to premium economy. I have to take emergency exit cause of my height. 1.86m. So dun mind paying for the extra cost for that extra comfort

Has anyone rented a car in the US before using Hertz? I'm currently 20 years of age, and have had my license for one and a half years. I plan to rent a car for the time I am in Los Angeles next year, from the second of January, and driving up to San Francisco.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Are the standard economy seats that bad? I'm 1.83 and it feels alright most of the time (except when you need to hop over fellow passengers from the window to the aisle)

It has just been made known to me that bringing food into the United States will cause problems at the immigration line and by bringing in food (even if the food falls under the goods allowed entry and has been declared on the Customs Declaration form) they'll mark you down so you'll be inspected every time you enter the US.

Is that true? Or is that just myth?

Hertz will rent cars to drivers between 18-24, however high performance and premium vehicles won't be available (min age 25). There will also be a young driver charge added to the rental cost

If food mean anything meat or fruit including, then you will have problems. You especially will have problems if in the customs form check that you did not bring meat/fruit and it then is discovered - fines up to $10K.

If you are bringing food, you need to declare it and use red corridor - after that everything will be fine. Cookies, chocolate, canned food is fine.

I was told to discard even my potato chips on the flight before landing at the airport.

If they (the immigration officer) check my pandan cake and say cannot can I eat it right there and then instead of throwing it away?

Does the price online include the insurance cost?

I will say it will be decided by preference. I drove through yosemite, stopped at mammoth lakes, went through death valley and onto to las vegas.

If you select country of residence as Singapore, the rental will include basic liability coverage for the rental (depending on the specific US state, but include California ). Rates will be cheaper if you put US as residence coz no liability coverage is provided

If you use certain promo codes, you may have CDW/LDW added at no extra charge.

For those looking for SIM card in the USA, look for the H2O Sim.
1) drive to Best Buy to buy the SIM card and top up than you can choose the plan that suites you
2) Order from Amazon and have it ship to your hotel. Remember to put your name and your hotel booking number

H2O is using AT&T, reception is good even in Yosemite
Test with Iphone 7 and Redmi Note, no problem with 4G.

For car rental, I having been using VroomVroomVroom.com
I choose Alamo, although it is not stated but it comes with CDL, Theft protection and 3rd party liability and road side assistance. No need to pay anything up front. Free cancellation. After booking, just go to Alamo website with your booking reference to double check all the insurance are included.
