there are hotels near the aiport that you can stay for the night. How much is your hotel at anaheim? I stayed at best western there and it was around 200sgd for a deluxe room, which is roughly a little bit more top up from the airport hotel.

You can reach anaheim from LAX within 1 hour of driving though.

Thanks. Actually was thinking of holiday inn express near Disneyland.

And from holiday inn express, to Uber to Universal Studio, but not sure if it makes sense to do so.

Ubering from Anaheim to universal studio will be damn expensive. Have you tried using Uber app to check the price? They are on opposite sides of LA. You might as well rent a car for the day and drive there.

Ah that's really helpful actually. Unfortunately I don't travel much for work these days.

Did you find Gordon Ramsay good? I tried Wolfgang Puck while I was in Vegas a long long time ago and was very meh. Heard his restaurant Spago in LA is pretty damn good though.

edit: i can most likely get Hilton Gold before my trip, just need 2 nights more...and that's Wyndham platinum...not bad. I'm staying at Linq which is under Caesar's so seems pretty promising with the perks.

Does the Wyndham - Caesar status match take place instantly?

And I did not book Linq directly with the hotel, do they tend to extend these perks still?

The status match takes some time cause you need to match to wyndham first and then to caesar. Preferably to do it 1 month before you arrive?

unfortunately caesar platinumis nothing much cause you don't get the free show tickets and 100 dining credit. But you get free parking though which can cost a lot if you park on site.

best western is directly in front of the road leading into disneyland tho whereas holiday inn is quite a distance away from the main road iirc.
But of course stay at whichever property you prefer just letting you know the options available.

As for ubering to universal studio, that is quite a distance away maybe 30-40mins or so? depending on traffic.
As someone else said, it is going to be quite expansive to uber there. You might as well get a car and travel there or stay at DT LA and take the metro to the universal city train station etc...

sorry my bad. right now i'm Hilton silver which is platinum. nothing much like you said besides the parking. (wonder if it's 1 entry per day or can go in and out a few times)

so if I do get Hilton Gold I'll be Diamond on Caesar's...in which i won't have to pay resort fees, $100 dining credit, free parking. i don't see the 2 free show tickets, are you able to point me to it?

i could probably chalk up the nights at doubletree hilton in JB before me trip if i really want hilton gold.

on another note, the benefits really quite decent. got free 2 nights in Dubai, 3 nights in Bahamas even lol

Thanks for the detailed post bro. can ask where u stayed in NYC? trying to decide between hotel or airbnb, cos not sure if airbnb is safe there. didn't realize it was illegal in NYC

did you visit the factory outlets?

I stayed here for 5 nights. not cheap and very small room. clean with branded fixtures for the bathroom but that's about it - you're paying for location.

Hilton Garden Inn New York Midtown Park Ave

airbnb is still available in NYC (like in SG), you can try and im sure many have. at immigration the officer will normally ask for proof of your itinerary like flight and hotel bookings. it is not in their authority nor interest to enforce short-term rental laws but if you catch an officer on his bad day, you may just give him a chance to make things difficult for you.

factory outlets are damn far away, it's like a full day thing (2hrs there, 2hrs shopping, 2hrs back) so we did not "waste" our time since shopping was not our absolute priority. instead we visited discount chains like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Nordstrom Rack and Century 21.

these chains sell mainstream brands like lacoste, polo ralph, tommy hilfiger, calvin klein, dockers, nautica and such brands on discount. like $20~30+ for polo t, $10+ for t-shirts, etc. selection may not be as wide and varied compared to outlet but we were happy with what we found. we spend an hour or so here and there in between our sightseeing.

Century 21 is particularly good especially for ladies. you're talking about haute couture like christian louboutin, gucci, versace on discount. so instead of $1,200 for stiletto, you pay maybe 700? :s22: for guys you have nike/reebok as well as expensive leather shoes or shirts and suits, so it's some serious shopping.

prepare your credit card! :s13:

Thanks for all the info here.

Is SQ premium econ to LAX non-stop for $2.7K reasonable?

Understand.

The probable reason for the $2+k high price is because I am booking now for travel in Aug.

Was not able to plan earlier due to work
i recently booked 1 way SQ-SF for 1k. which is not even cheap but i had no choice as last minute trip for June.

perhaps book 2 separate 1 way so gives you some flexibility as to which other city you want to fly back from?

Can do multi-city on same airline. Don’t have to book two 1-way tix unless you want to mix airlines due to timings perhaps.

I took Qatar to Boston and flew back from NYC on a single booking.

Thanks all for advise.

Just managed to book for Aug both way non-stop travels about $1.8k per pax.

Will reach LAX night time, and fly out LaX midnight.

Other better flight timings really priced out for me; no choice.
Even after I clicked Purchase, I have to accept an increase price while system processing.

Btw, may I know if it is easy to Uber/Lyft from Lax to hotel at night time?

May I know any specific districts in concern?
