I'll stick that into my friday night!they have free audio tours on their website, thats quite good for someone like me not into arts lol. :D

I'm in the design industry and I didn't enjoy MOMA. Almost everyone was crowding at the Van Gogh painting taking photos. I went 2 years ago.

Are the bikes youre referring to the citi bikes? I think i may give them a miss haha cause i'll be buying the unlimited metro ticket.

Are there tips for taking the subway? I read one which said avoid going into an empty carriage, cause theres a reason why its empty lol.

The cab would be too pricey for me...i'll be taking the air train(5usd) and subway(covered by metrocard). Hope i got the prices right.

I havent figured out how to get from ewr to manhattan as thats the airport im flying in. The newark airport express has pretty bad reviews. Can you purchase tickets on the bus? Are there other alternatives to get to manhattan?

NYC quite nice to walk around (to my own surprise) to explore different neighbourhoods. You might find interesting shops along the way. People you’ll see as well - both weird and interesting. :s13:

I recommend even though you’ll get tired after few days (I did at least 10km/day walking for 5 days!). The weather should be fine too, maybe 25~27 degrees when you’re there?

By comparison the subway is complicated, stations not clean and normally quite smelly :( Also nothing much to see and train frequencies can be like 10+mins for certain lines/time.

Do rely on your phone (google/Apple maps) for directions like which train to take, lines to switch to, station to alight, etc. since it’s the US, all will be online including station/line closures, frequencies and so on.

Can consider Wall Street/raging bull (pictures for your insta =:p ), walkable from 911 memorial.

Yeah Starry Night is the main attraction. Few pieces here and there not bad but a lot of stuff too abstract.

I saw an exhibit which is a canvas painted completely white. :s11:

I heard it gets humid there too.
25-27 deg, I can prolly survive in tshirt and shorts? Does it get chilly at night?

Google's telling me the sun rises at 530 and sets around 8pm. That sounds like plenty of daylight. :D

I don't see American Museum of Natural History in your plans. You might want to put it down as I love it a lot! :s13::s13:

27deg should be the top end so average maybe low 20s. Bring a light jacket along when heading out.

And bro, in NYC wear nicer lah... at least jeans. They also wear long track or sweat pants there, if you have those in your wardrobe.

If you are wearing shorts, slippers and ppl ask where you from please say Malaysia :s13:

Hello Hello guys. I've drafted out my rough 5 day June NYC itinerary.

I'll be bunking in the Meatpacking district, near Chelsea Market.

I've bought a 4 attraction pass and am planning to use them on the totr, the met museum, 9/11 memorial and uss intrepid.

- Am not sure if 6th June is too packed.
- I read in an earlier post that its not possible to get "the book of mormon" discounted, is that still true now? and what are the other night activities possible in NYC?

Also, i'm soloing this trip. :)

5th weds
chelsea market - los tacos no1
the high line
totr (exchange voucher at concourse level for a timed ticket)
trump tower
st patricks cathedral 930-5pm
grand central station
chrystler building
New York Public Library

6th thurs
3 hrs walking tour
9/11 memorial (opening: 9am - 8 pm)
staten island ferry (20mins ride)
take train to brooklyn by yellow N R line white hall st to court street station(5 guys beside)
Brooklyn Bridge

7th fri
jersey gardens(buy from port authority bus terminal a $15 round trip for bus 111)
times square

8th sat

central park?
the flatiron building (burger and lobster or shake shack?)
union square market mon,wed,fri,sat 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m

9th sunday
uss intrepid(opening hrs:10am-6pm)
concorde tour 1 hr duration
2055 jfk flight back to SIN

Any comments appreciated.

Hmm not going American Museum of Natural History? So you are seeing Trump Tower but not Empire State Building?

What about considering the ferry that brings you to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island? There's a National Museum of Immigration in Ellis Island as well that is worth visiting.

By the way, the Metropolitan Museum of the Art can takes up almost the whole day (the same for American Museum of Natural History).

Yes you can survive almost everything on card. For me it's much easier to use card because I still have some difficulty "deciphering" their coins (they uses words like "penny", "nickel", "dime", "quarter" instead of numbers).

I wasnt sure if there was much to see at ground level of the ESB. Is there? Im heading to the top of the rock's observatory.

Did anyone here buy passes from "new york city pass" and "sightseeing pass"? There are so much mixed reviews about them.

Totally agree - it’s almost not worth getting cash cos you can even tip on your card there these days

Cool! Another newb question, does nyc have a local supermarket chain? Like the NTUC, ASDA, Tesco, sainsbury sort. :D I dont see a 7-11 or trader joes near my hotel.

Primary reason is just need bottled water and fruits.(hotel doesnt have breakfast) :/ Will their local mama shops take card too?

Only of good value if you can cover the cost of the pass with the visit you going.

I managed to get it discounted, 4 attractions at 95usd. Bad things ive read is gotta queue twice, one to exchange voucher, another to get into the attraction.

If you are talking about the "Lobby" (after you take the lift down from the Observation Deck), it is worth taking some photos in there.

No shops/restaurants inside (if I'm not wrong) because there are already a lot within the vicinity of ESB. It's also walking distance from NY Penn Station (one of the major train station other than the Grand Central Terminal), and also walking distance from New York Public Library.

I bought the New York City Pass, so that it will at least get my lazy-self to visit the places of interest that I have already paid for. :p

You can buy most of whatever you need at CVS. 7-eleven by comparison is quite crappy though it has some hot food (but don’t bother).

Whole Foods is a big organic supermarket, more expensive version of Trader Joe’s.

You only have 5-days, so won’t be able to see and do everything - even if you just snap a pic for social media and go.

You can free up a day by skipping outlet shopping but it depends on your priorities.
