Looks not bad, for 6 days, that's about $50 a day for full sized, just full size consumes more fuel than smaller cars, if you do not need such a car size.

hi, the thing is we on honeymoon, and we are banging to use the backseat for the checkin luggage as well, in addditon to the boot. if we switch to using camry (next higher tier), we need to pay additional $50 drop fee, but not for the impala one. ...

any opinion with Liability Insurance Supplement daily and Personal Accident Insurance / Personal Effects is neccessary?

Anyone have experience renting a car with 4 large suitcases(around 29" x 19") in tow?

I'll be renting a car for 5 of us and 4 large suitcase(and probably an additional carryon -size bag) in Canada. I booked the largest sedan from Avis, which is a Chrysler 300S or similar but problem is dunno if its boot is large enough. The GIF below shows that it can take 9 golf bags. http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2013/09/38000-full-size-sedan-challenge-golf-bags.html

The MPV is another 100 bucks..is it a recommended change?

I think I rented mpv the last time I needed bigger boot space. But I don't remember of it's a jeep explorer or something else. Esp if it's a road trip, you will want everyone to sit comfortably for a few hours at one go.

My 2 cents.

It would not fit 4 large bags and a carrying on.
That gif had the passenger seats folded down.
Where do u want your 3 ppl seating?

It's best to rent a mini van. 5 ppl in a full size car so uncomfortable

Honeymoon = 2 people only? If then, you can even go for mid sized. Usually, you won't go above one large suitcase (28 to 30+" type) per person as it is very troublesome to tow more than 1 around. I'm able to fit 2 large suitcases and 3 smaller ones, with big carry on bags into a mid size sedan with just 2 poeple. 1 large in trunk, 1 in back seat, then the rest of the space for the remaining smaller/mid-sized bags. Had quite some trouble carrying them all with just 2 people, had to get bell services to help with getting the bags down from hotel room and pay for those "unauthorized" baggage handlers at LAX to help me transport them from the drop off to check in.

A mid/full sized MPV/SUV would already be a very tight fit for the suitcases. They may or may not fit into the boot. So a sedan is definitely out of the question. I'm not sure if this is available for rental, but I do see people having luggage box on top of the car, tied to the luggage racks, that would allow for more room, though I don't think it can fit a 29" either.

just now went the arcade money changer..tio 8 pieces of old usd 100 dollars notes..din koe will have problem changing it back to sgd when i come back

Do you mean "does anyone know if I'll have a problem changing it back"? If that's what you mean, the answer is no, you won't.

the above does not include Liability Insurance Supplement daily @ 13.95 USD and Personal Accident Insurance / Personal Effects Coverage daily @ 6.95 USD.

any view if this rate is reasonable? thanks

You need to read the T&C and decide for yourself whether you need it, but generally you don't need the personal accident insurance if you already have travel insurance. The liability insurance isn't a bad idea if you hit someone, but again your travel insurance may cover that already. Read your insurance docs.

Nope, not big enough. Get a minivan or an SUV.

Try AT&T first. If they won't sell you the SIM card (they occasionally get weird about it), go to T-Mo; the T-Mo network's a lot smaller, though, so that's why you want to try AT&T first.

I just came back from US... Popped into an AT&T on arrival in town and a nice lady set up the phone for me using my Samsung note 3.

I'd be driving from JFK to Woodsbury in NYC.

About the highway toll & bridge toll ( if any ) . Just prepare some cash and go right? Anything else I need to take note?

Some rentals come with the toll device, though they charge a small premium for using it. You can opt to use it if you want convenience of not stopping for toll.

Jetblue is definitely very good.
One of the better US domestic airlines.
Since u are flying in dec, u can hold off on buying the tickets as they might drop in price.
Sign up for a price alert for the days u want to travel on.

5 days in LAS is too long I feel, even factoring in a day trip to Grand Canyon.
But maybe it is just me as i dont gamble and not interested in the cheap buffets or shows. lol
There is a topless pool at the MGM? One of the hotels.

For SFO, choose the longer connection.
1hr+ is cutting it close.
Usually delays in SFO due to fog.
Better to be early than miss the flight.

Tokyo, u can take day trips outside of Tokyo.
There are some interesting towns and onsens outside of Tokyo.

Correct on both counts. That's a pretty great rate, I'd jump on it.

yo all
I have just booked my tickets even though still got about 8 months away. my itinerary:

travel dates: 19th Dec 2014 - 3rd jan 2015
international
sin - jfk (via nrt)
las - nrt (via sfo)
nrt - sin

booked via united air, except for las - sfo, the rest of the flights are codeshare flights; operated by ana. cost is 2130sgd.

domestic
jfk - las

booked via aa, cost is abt 340sgd.

I got one qns, on my eticket for all the codeshare flight segments (international), there is a covering sentence that says "If this is an originating flight on your itinerary, please check in at the ana ticket counter."
does it simply mean I check in at ana counter at changi airport and narita?

and do u tink I can go ana office at robinson road and try to do advance seat selection? anyone done that in such similar situation?

thanks.

Yes, please check in at the ANA counters.

For seat selection, you can try calling and ask them. Your reservation code won't be valid on their system, just give them your flight dates, flight numbers and your name, see if they can select seats for you.

hi guys, im planning to book flights to US in June either LA airport of San Fransico airport. Anyone has any deals/promos in mind? Cheapest as of now is Delta 2k

You should book now - it's probably not going to get any cheaper between now and then. International flights tend to bottom out about 90 days before departure date.
