Brk.B will have share buyback is it ever drop to 120, its a good stock to hold. $200 is very possible in the foreseeable future.

looking at NXPI now. any 1 have insights on this?
NXP Semiconductors

Personally think NFC is an interesting field and you have found a niche market that is still developing, I can't judge if NXPI is a leader yet(though someone commented it is) or have any sort of moat like OPEN or ENT which I invested in. Both of those 2 counter I invested in are niche market leader in their own field back before others came to heard about them.

This is what I gathered from my short trip to seeking alpha,

NXPI

'NXPI is surely a leader as far as NFC is concerned. But it still has a ton of debt.
Their latest acquisition of Quintic places them into a strong foothold of BTLE devices for wearables also which has long term growth prospects.
The other players like AVGO, BRCM, SWKS, MRVL look to be the more aggressive players in this sector.'

The Goodwill & intangible assets on the balance sheet hardly budged in the 5 years (3.4 billion reduced to 3.2 billion), this is a bit of concern.
There is no indication of what charges against profits will happen as a result of disposing of the manufacturing operation.
Such factors (writing down goodwill faster and/or taking a big hit to exit manufacturing) will adversely affect profit and PE ratio.

'That said, NXP seems to be in the right business. Contact-less payment is finally front and center in the USA with Applepay. This could spur additional applications like top up cards which have been popular in the Far East for more than a decade already. While there is far less public transport use in the USA (except in a few mega cities), there are zillions of vending machines etc which will benefit from contact-less payment.'

'Way too much long-term debt versus shareholder equity. And according to projections, it will get worse. That's always a big red flag. AVGO and SWKS look like much better bets in this space, IMO.'

Guys, what are your opinions on MSFT long term?

For me, Microsoft just got a new CEO, so still have to play the wait and see game.
Overall, it is a sleeping giant, not a leader in many areas, which is a good thing as that means there is room for aggressive expansion and thereby growth.

It is expanding to make itself a all inclusive tech hardware-wise in our life, something like which AAPL is already leading. It's main competition for that space now remains to be solely AAPL. When AAPL steps into a market, everyone just play catch-up. AAPL has that moat where integration of hardware is concerned. Every part of it's device is kinda user friendly enough to communicate with with each other.

On the software side of things, cloud computing, OS, microsoft office all has a stable footing. Need more research here though to see where all this is going. This part certainly has room to grow too.

If you wanna pick a tech blue chip for the long term, you could do a lot worse than MSFT. If you wanna look for numbers, it's latest quarter results is just out and isn't very well-received.

Just my own opinion, feel free to share yours.

Sitting on a lot of cash at the moment, tho not rly performing.

question is, can they be more innovative in the future? if they can have a breakthrough+the amt of cash on hand they have, they can be coming up with the next big thing and investors would be looking at a home run

It just broke it's 3 month upward support at around $148.
On a 6 month SMA basis, it is right on the support line which it hasn't fallen below since July 31st 2014.

Basically, it 'looks' like a downward trend, so it's coming back.

But I see it bounce off this $140+ level as it's suppose to, if you draw a line for all it's major support since 2012.
It has not fallen by this magnitude since july-august 2013, so I doubt it has much more to fall barring any big news.

Of course it's just a opinion. What's your opinion?

BTW, there is nothing to FA about BRK.B
LOL.

For BRKB, it's "in Buffett we trust".

If that happens, I might switch abit to MKL. Then see how Weschler and Combs match up to the legendary pair. If they do just slightly worse, I would still be vested.

Not bad, you dare to enter when blood is on that street. I bought some EPD, Line(RISKY), XLE. Will look to cut loss on XLE, LINE.

Looking to buy ETP(so sad I missed the below $60 price coz of a few cents...)

I have confidence in EPD and ETP. KMI also not bad.

Vested in COP, CVX, XOM, EPD, LINE, XLE, APL, KMI. All natural gas or oil energy sector.

LINE is bloody risky man I saw that also :s13: but even then it's still on my watch list, haha!

Currently aiming at TOT (Total SA), BBEP, EXXI...that should round up my oil portfolio...
