does anybody have any recommendation in tailormade shirt/suit in hcm? I will only be staying in hcm for 2 days. Preferably can be done within 24 hrs. Afterwards, i will be flying to hanoi where i will be staying almost a week there. If you guys think 2 days to tailormade a suit is seemingly impossible, do recommend me a good tailor in hanoi.

Also, i heard that custom-made leather shoes in vietnam is kinda popular. Any recommendation on that? Its my first time to vietnam so kinda lost.

It is not that hard. Tourist places have English signage and those who work in the industry can communicate in English or French. Vietnamese is written somewhat in English script so you can recognise some script. Com=rice, pho/po=noodles and the like. For any other discourse, you will get by, not much else.

My other 2 Dong worth of advice is to buy a simple Vietnamese phrasebook, my previous trips I used The Rough Guide Dictionary Phrasebook and I got by nicely

I doubt there is 3G everywhere. Borrow and bring a guidebook. A book is all-in-one: guide to sites, phrases and tips.

Hey, Not sure if you have found your drivers. I just returned from HCM on a business trip on Sunday. I found this taxi driver Thuan an honest man and can also speak basic English. Maybe you can consider him. His nos is +84 0913 93 9313.

But just a warning, I asked him about pickup from the airport but the rate is slightly higher than if you just hire a taxi from the airport. He cite it to the expensive parking rate as he wait in the airport.

I think it is possible. I bought a normal pre-paid Vinatel sim card and it actually allows internet connection on my mobile phone.

Sorry for the late response.. not in sg at e moment. I don't have the exact knowledge abt the types of junk, but from my understanding all junk are quite decent in a sense. The rate difference probably goes to the type of meals u get.

There are distinctly 2 types of junk. One is the wooden kind which looks more authentic and the modernistic type which caters more to European package tourists.

yeah i travel alone..nice fun la..challenging cos not a english speaking country..
but not really a issue.
those who deal with tourist probably speak english..
those who cant speak english...use my hands and calculator.
if you feel like talking to someone, find a tourist to chat with.

i had fun travelling alone.
probably planning for it too for future trips.
