if u wanna book train ticket. i strongly suggest taking up the first class sleeper, cos the second class sleeper is cui. but i recommend u buy at train station on your first day (cheaper) and go halong bay den go danang.

alternatively there will be bus from hanoi-hue-hoi an.

for halong bay package generally u can buy from all tour agencies in old quarter. tour agencies should be cheaper than booking through your hostel/hotel. do compare a few as price variance is quite high..

Thank you for your reply! is the procedure to get the halong bay package more or less like you go to Phuket to get a Phi Phi island tour? (cause i got cheated on that one :( )
Any rough gauge on how much a 2D1N or 3D2N halong bay package would cost?

I think it's doable. I wish to experience train rides as well, but worried can't get a sleeper class and also have to share with two other people.. Might have to take that into consideration..
Too bad it's not like KTM where there's a two bed..

you can refer to http://www.thesinhtourist.com/

generally this is the upper bound prices since they are the most reputable agency.

u can get similar offer at much lower price with other agencies. Mine was 36usd. (got cave, kayak and sleep on board the ship). i realised ppl on the same boat as me paid higher for the same 2d1n.

do compare around before buying to prevent being con.

Two ways coach is USD 10 per pax.
Beach resort got alot, check price from agoda or other sites. Usually around USD 30-50 is very very good. For one night nia cant be hiding in room right :s13:

I stayed in a guesthouse which costs USD 10 per night :o

Book a private jeep to see sunrise at white sand dune, red sand dune, fishermen village and Fairy stream cost USD 30. Trip starts 4.30am early morning and end ard 10am

u can get 5usd bus from any tour agencies to go muine.

good accomodation can be as low as 20-30USD.

no need to book in advance. just go muine and look around.

i would recommend muine ahead of nha trang.

HCMC-Dalat-muine-HCMC would be good for 7 days.

dont think u have time for siem reap. its a 12 hrs bus journey from hcmc.

Hi excalibur,

Thanks for the recommendation. May i enquire why would you recommend muine ahead of nha trang? Also for mode of transport will bus or plane by better? How many days should I allocate for each place?

Thank you in advance :)

For vietnam, buses are convenient mode of transport considering Hcmc, Muine, Dalat and Nha trang.

I recommend Muine ahead of Nha trang partly becos of your tight schedule and also I preferred the sleepy coastal town to the larger city.

U could do Nha trang as well. Assuming that u are flying out via Hcmc, 1 thing to note is that Nha trang back to Hcmc will be 12hrs on bus (alternative is train),while mui ne is 5 hrs from Hcmc.

of all the places i would think siem reap is the nicest. u consider doing in this trip if you can extend the trip.

Can I ask whether is it possible to travel around Vietnam like HCMC, Da Lat, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Mui Ne, etc etc, then go Siem Reap for Angkor Wat and sightseeing, then followed by Bangkok shop around? For like 15 days? Budget is $1.2k and shopping money is $350.

Another question, for border crossing, do i have to pay those visa like those Ang mohs do? Coz i heard Sinkies passport is visa free at asean countries, and will i get lost? Like I just follow or is there something to follow?
Also, when border crossing from Cambodia to Thailand, is the Ayutthaya border near Suvarhabhumi Airport? Because If its near, I'll rather pay the tuk tuk money to the airport then I take the airport link to town.

Thanks!

7 cities in 15 days in impossible.

do consider the travelling time. assuming u take buses and coaches, Siemreap-BKK 8 hrs, HCMC-Siemreap12hrs, HCMC-Dalat/Muine 5hrs, Dalat-Muine 5hrs, Dalat/Muine - Nha Trang 6hrs, Nhatrang - Danang 12hrs.

sinkies visa free in ASEAN countries except myanmar.

it not likely that u will get lost at the border crossing.

dont think its advisable to tuk tuk from Ayutthaya to Airport. :s22::s22:

dalat got 1 waterfall must go. i can't really remember the name. but the waterfall you can take a ride (something like the sentosa luge ride) down to the waterfall. i think that is really fun. there can also visit some palace where last time the prince stay? after that at night can go to the market at the center area to walk around and eat some shell seafood like lala etc.. with soya bean milk =)

enjoy the weather, it's like genting but i not sure about now..
