Need recommendation from Vietnam experts here!! My friends and I (total 3 guys) are planning to visit Vietnam in mid-July (4D3N). We never been to Vietnam at all and do not speak their language. Hope experts here can give me advise for the following questions...

Agenda: Mainly to relax & do nothing + some sight-seeing. Need night-life as we enjoy drinking (beer and wine).

1) HCMC or Hanoi
2) Any recommended clean & good hotel (1 pax/room)? (Budget ard $50-$80/night)
3) Any recommended sight-seeing place/ must do activities/ Massage?
4) Weather during mid-July?

Thank you

Is it more expensive to tailor made formal wear in HCMC as compare in Bangkok or SG? How long does it takes?

This time April to June. Hanoi like Ho Chi Minh should be hot ~33C. But night time is cold 25-ish?. Bus to HLB i was told takes half a day. So return is 1 full day and you can stay there for a night. Rest of the 1d and 1 night, u can stay in Hanoi near
Hoan kiem Lake. There are more things to do there. =)

based on the past records and other forecast, this time should not be warmer than SG ...hopefully... hanoi - halong return should be ard 7+hrs ... so hope from 8am-8pm got ard 4 hours look see at scenery not too rushing ...... :s8:

Hi i just back from HCMC in April and been to HoiAn last december. The best tailors are in Hoi An and their turnover time can be as fast as 4 hours for a shirt.

Good tailors in HCMC need at least 5-7 days for a shirt. I dont know why they need that long...

Bangkok is still the best place to go other than Hoi An if you want to make shirts. But you can check out the shoe/dress makers in HoiAn if u are there.

1) Both HCMC and Hanoi has night life. HCMC has more. Hanoi is quieter at night. In HCMC, there is a backpackers lane called BuiVien/ Pham Ngoc Lau where the Angmohs and backpackers gather to drink cheap bear 1usd or less.

2) For 45sgd/night you can get a 3 star hotel in HCMC near Ben Thanh market. You may want to check out Lan Lan Hotel 2 or Blue Diamond Hotel in HCMC.

3) Sightseeing... The standard sight seeing stuff in HCMC are the war museum, independence palace and of cos the cu chi tunnel where u can fire AK47 at the end of the day trip.

In Hanoi, u can go further up to Sapa (needs 3 days at least) or the famous Ha Long Bay (2D1N).

Massage is very cheap in HCMC. One popular massage parlor is 137 Ben Thanh, its very famous and the locals know about it. Massage is 300k dong (20sgd) for 90 minutes. If u take the private room its 350k dong. You are expected to tip. Personally i think the service at 137 Ben Thanh is good. Masseurs are experienced and professional.

4) Mid July should be cooling. April-June is their hottest. By July the heat should have subsided.

For 4D3N, maybe you guys can do a HCMC + Vung Tau combo or a HCMC + MuinE combo or a HCMC + Dalat combo.
