you probably bought the expensive tourist sim. unlimited always means unlimited throttled data once you finished your allowance. were you streaming movies?

i paid 50k dong for 2gb of data for 30 days on vinaphone. still left 700mb after 10 day trip.

what do you want to explore?
i went chuchi tunnel, war musuem, post office, notre-dame, opera house etcetc

my sim card unlimited 3g, 30days, 160k dong.
once i exit HCMC airport, theres like 6 stalls selling SIMcard.
MOST offer to sell you at 150k but the deals seems too good to be true so i avoided those.

In phan thiet now. I used vinaphone DT20. Gives me 1gd data for 1 week.
My sim card was bought in market stall for 70k early this year. Comes with free calls and sms but no data. Have to top up and activate the data yourself. A bit difficult if you cant speak vietnamese cause you don't know what's going on.

Hi, I just purchased a sim card with unlimited data on the 10th Dec while I was in Hanoi and I am letting go at $10 to anyone who happen to be in Vietnam over the next few weeks. This card is valid for 30 days from date of purchase and it includes some local and international call time. PM me for more details if interested. Thanks. :)

hopefully you see my pm

The activation is simple. Just SMS the plan you want to 888. For example, "DT20" SMS to 888. If you didn't select, the stored value will be used to deduct the data you used in per kb. And they keep changing the plans. At first, i used D5. Later they said my type of sim card cannot use D5, can use D7. This trip, new pattern come out. Say D7 is promotional and I disabled it last trip, and i can use D10 for 2gb , 10k VND per day. I don't think i can use 2gb each day, especially it's just 3g. So i opt for DT20 which is 20k VND per week for 1gb data.
Unless you intend to sit in the park the whole day to surf the net, you don't need 2gb especially it's the slow 3g speed. Every shop and hotel there have wifi, and it's quite fast. At least 30Mbps speed. So no need to be scared and buy so much data. You wont need it.
Oh ya, if you have problems with the sim card, you can call Vinaphone customer service at 9192. They can speak english and Mandarin.

Hahaha I see ok appreciate if you could share your feedback here :) thanks

yo the 1 day tour was pretty good :s12: quite packed, start at 9am from shintourist office(at backpackers) reach back later than stated, around 7pm.

first went to cu chi tunnels, then to mekong river for lunch, followed riding on a horse drawn cart, then rowing boat. bus trip from place to place takes around 2 hours each, but from mekong back to office an 1hr.

worth every penny :D
