Taxi or Grab better in HCMC ?

Grab of course.
Best to use a local number so that the driver can call or text you

Taxi will purposely take detour.

Currently planning a 4D3N trip which includes Hanoi and Sapa

Sent from Henabi virus using GAGT

For me it’s not enough. I spent 2 nights in sapa and I still have a lot of things I missed.

Do 1 day trek + stay in local people homestay.

Do 1 day ham rong mountain + trek to cat cat or go fansipan or hike to ta phin village.

Not to forget the weekend night market in sapa town and bac ha morning market.

Actually why not Airbnb?

Personally prefer hotels ...
since vietnam hotel prices generally is affordable, unlike like Hong Kong or Japan or other europe , states, australia ...

hence dont really see the point of saving and stay air bnb...
unless u really like to interact with the locals, eat and live like them for the next few days ...

3* hotels in hcm generally 30+ to 60+ onwards ...
airbnb no make up room for most ...
in the event, last min if they cancel your booking, then gg ...
if you book hotels from ota such as agoda, expedia ... if the hotel cancel your bookings due to renovations etc, the ota would provide u with another higher priced hotel.

taxi and meter not much difference ...
however, to be on the safe side, would use grab
to prevent taxi from going detour ...

however, if going out in the evening, prices of grab might doubled.
hence u might wanna take a taxi instead ...

If taxi, can only take vinasun or mah linh. The rest of the taxis have rigged meters.
Not much difference between taxis and grab. The price difference is like, 1k or 2k. But for grab, you need an address.
Sometimes, you cant get grab. Just walk outside and flag a cab. Lots of taxi at D1.

avoid taking taxi which are stationed outside ben thanh market
have read online on taxi scam ...

the mah linh is supposed to be green in color ...
however, there would be mah linh that is white in color ...
the meter would jump very high ...
60k to 200k, to 300+ to 600+, etc ...

normally from hcm airport to hotels in ben thanh area, would take cab from outside. take mah linh or vinasun ... you would see other companies such as silver cab , vina cab etc ... normally is about 140 to 160vnd ...

only from hotel to airport, would grab ... also about 160+ vnd ...

Depends lah. If you 1-2 person go hotel is OK. But my group of friends and I went there, we all decided on airbnb because it is more convenient. 6 of us book the entire house, aach couple have their own room and there's the living room where we can drink and play cards together at night.

Yup, get the sim card after you have cleared the immigration ...
price should be about 120k for 5gb ...
if buy before immigration, price is about 10usd ... not worth ...

For SG to Da Nang return trip, usually what airfare is considered cheap? Trying to book but unsure of what’s the usual and cheapest promo
airfare.

I just come back this week.
Booked Vietjet to and fro. Last saturday's noon flight. Delayed by 45 mins. sianz. First time took Vietjet and they gave me this. Also, the hand luggage is just 7kg, and they even weight it! I took Tigerair/ Scoot (10kg) and Jetstar (7+3)kg, never get weighted. luckily my hand carry didn't over-weight.
At T4, the security is more tight and cumbersome than T2/T1. Once they X-Ray your hand luggage got liquid or metal, they filter out your luggage to the Fail lane and you need to take out for them to check. At T2, they don't do that.
At TSN airport, Vietjet's plane are parked at the cargo terminal, so upon alighting, we have to take a bus to the international airport.

I stayed at Giang Son 2 hotel, recommended by a bro here. Thanks, bro. This is acheap and good hotel. Simple and clean. Cost USD 19/ 420k Vnd, and not noisy because it is at the back lane. once you walked out and a short stroll, it's the happening Bui Vien walking street! and the best part is, opposite the hotel got ang mo "free show"!! haha

On the return trip, we did online check-in for the Vietjet, and got a boarding pass with seat numbers. Looks legitimate. Due to some reasons, we only reach the airport 50 minutes before flight. At the TSN immigration, the officer turned us back saying that is not a boarding pass. We have to run back to the Vietjet counter to get another one. The staff grumble but still gave us our boarding passes. We have to jump queue at the immigration and security to get board the bus to the plane in time.

I was expecting bikini flight stewardess in Vietjet flights. No luck though.
Not even close to pretty.
