3 days Hoi An n 3 days Danang,going to attractions plus massages. Now pending to book a driver for few hours to travel from Hoi An to marble Mt, son tra peninsula n to top of Hai Van pass lookout, provided weather is fine on this day.

Anyone went Viet on CNY before? Are all the shops close? harder to get grab and food? Wise to visit during CNY period?

For the first 5 to 7 days of CNY, Almost all the shops are closed, except for those which open for tourists, including tourist attractions.

sonce, mainly the tourist attractions are opened during CNY period, it will be swarmed by the locals as well, because they also have nothing much to do at home..... cuz its mainly, Eat, Drink, Gamble, Watch TV, Sleep, Bai Nian, Give Angbao, collect Angbao and repeat.

But its quite interesting to see and explore the empty streets of ho chi minh and Hanoi. free of cars, bikes and vehicles.

for 7 days where can I go in Vietnam with local guide ? I don’t understand Vietnamese . I am thinking of Hanoi (including sapa) and Danang. I am not visiting hcm anymore.

The travel time from hanoi to sapa will be like 6-8 hrs gone.
its the same for the way back to hanoi.
do take this into consideration

iirc just be prepared for “chop carrot” prices for local tour packages and tour guides cuz CNY is a super big event in vietnam

for train tickets to and fro sapa, you can probably book early
Cuz local people will go there for holiday as well

as for tour packages, maybe after you check in to your hotel, you can ask the hotel counter

Goggle translate would be yr best friend. It served me well.
This yr, I went Danang twice + HCM alone.
Nowadays, the young viet English proficiency is quite good as well.

Weather has been good in Danang so far. Bana hills is cold and foggy and crowded.

Yes was up there yesterday, bad weather I head to Bana when it's cloudy, all the beauty of Bana is not visible. Driver mentioned that if u cannot see a clear Bana hill from Danang city, then view up there will not be good.

I was informed that Siam Commercial bank (SCB) & Tpbank is FOC, though not tried. I was there & tried few other ATMs & it stated between 1.5% to 3% bank charges & I did not proceed. Many Viet banks, SCB & Tpbank not that many, so need to google map to find. At Int arrival, duh have, a local told me to walk to next building, abt 5 mins away, did not manage to locate it at ground floor.
