Generally it is true that changing in HCM is better.

But recently in the last few months, SG moneychangers are giving rates even higher than banks/google rate.

For eg, 18900vnd-1sgd. Youtrip is hovering slightly lesser than bank rates 18450.

Ben Thanh is giving higher than bank rates but still lesser than SG moneychangers.

It has been quite weird in the last few months.

What is Sg best rate today?

I am in hcmc. Later I check Benh Thanh. Usually benh thanh gives IChange rate or better. IChange today (11 may) is 18,823

when I say benh thanh I am referring to the one INSIDE benh thanh and not the 2 gold shops outside

Now very good rates. 18,875 was the highest on IChange. I changed last week 18,830 INSIDD Benh Thanh.

Yes, just returned on 27 Apr after my trip to Hanoi, Sapa & back to Hanoi.

Going to Sapa, I took Sleeper Train I bought from this website and I bought it with the mini-van services to Sapa from Lao Cai train station.

It's cheaper than buying from Klook, the one from Klook though is the train quality is much better though, with slipper, drinks & toothbrush/toothpaste provided . .

Returning back to Hanoi, I took Sleeper bus, was conned by one of the travel shops in Sapa, that this bus services come with attached toilet, but in the end, it wasn't. Language barrier, so not knowing how to communicate with the bus driver to go toilet. With sleeper train, there is toilet on each cabin ends, so it's more convenient.

We went to Fansipan 1 day trip, Cat Cat Village 1 day trip in Sapa . . .

We stayed 2 nights in D Home Sapa 3, this hotel interior is good but externally, it's on a steep cliff so not so advisable for those with weak legs.
Next, we stayed 2 nights in Sapa Relax Hotel & Spa and they gave us complimentary breakfast. Much better as it's nearer to the Sapa City Centre.

Yes change Dong in Ho Chi Minh and not in SG.

There is a moneychanger inside Benh Thanh. They have the best rates for SGD everyday. Better than HA TAM goldshop outisde Benh Thanh. Most tourists dont know this.

I didn't know of the moneychanger in the market.. used to change outside..

Last month, I changed some money for my trip, it was higher than google rate, was puzzled as well..

Its always higher than google rates even 10 years ago. Most people know HA TAM or the other gold shop next to it outside Benh Thanh and these 2 are mostly for tourists. The locals all change inside Benh Thanh from 10.30am onwards. Their rates are unbeatable

I also bought from this Money Exchanger shop outside of Da Nang Airport during my last trip to Da Nang in 2023.

just buy from shopee in sg easier. i bought mine 7 days $9.90 15gb
used in HCM with no issue. reached HCM airport straight got signal.

I of my friends bought online and reached Danang, unable to receive signal reception.
Luckily when she was back home, she complained to the online shop and got her money back.
Not saying that buying online is unable to work, but so far for me, I also bought online for HCM & Hanoi so far no issues. However, in Danang, may be best to buy there upon reaching Danang airport.

Just finished my travel in danang. Bought 3 sim cards online. end up only used 2.
Viettel used on my daughter's ipad seems to have issues with sharing hotspot.
Echo networks used on my phone can do hotspot with no issues. Speed also ok.
One thing i realized is opening attachments/photos in wechat is slow as compared to whatsapp in Danang.. not sure why is that the reason.
