Haha what does this mean? Only seen their skyboss.

Generally I realised most Vietnam ppl (except those doing business) are very approachable and friendly. I see that some of them take Chinese language major which surprised me haha, they can type chinese better than me.
Thanks! Yeah skyboss. Service really good despite being a budget airline.

Afaik some Vietnamese who are in D5 or grew up in the Chinatown area will be able to speak a little Chinese or Cantonese but all depend on their parents and grandparents.

wow so sad....thought can get my ear cleaned. Weird that no businessman tried to bring this type of concept to Hanoi
There's a saying: "Hanoi is the elder sister. HCMC is the younger sister."

For nightlife businesses, spa and massage businesses, I suppose there are many many restrictions in Hanoi.

I ever been to the rooftop bar at the Pacific Place Building in Hanoi 3 years ago... I reached there around 10pm. Good crowd, booming music, booze and drinks flowing. I went to sit outside so that I can enjoy the view.

And then when the clock strikes 12am midnight, suddenly the booming music stop, the crowd started to disperse and the bill came.

As I walk towards the main exit door, I saw 3-4 Policemen sitting at the main door like bosses, watching the place like an Eagle focused on its prey.

Ahhh fortuna hotel. Of course...
Co-owned I heard. Very pro Singapore. 2 years ago they placed a miniature merlion at the main entrance lobby.

If I have no place to go... I will go there... but still some bars in old quarters are more fun...
Especially after the curtain comes down

"Sir.... lounge or Room"
Walk past the front counter and immediately greeted by two rows of ladies sitting down on two long sofas.
Whatever happens from there.... is all up to you

For arrival at Hanoi Airport, are there any shops/stalls nearby that I can get cheap tourist sim card (Viettel) from?

Went HCM last year and managed to purchase around $5-$7 (and saw many other stalls all selling at different but more expensive prices) near the airport

'Cheap' and 'tourist' are not the same or interchangeable. If you want cheap SIM, avoid tourist SIM packages which shops/vendors will push on you every time.

Any recommendation on hanoi hotels and halong bay cruise?
Thanksss :s13:

want to ask the same thing!

i'm not sure if i should book halong bay cruise that comes with return transfer from hanoi? or is it all right to book the transfers separately? i'm all right to pay more but most of the cruises on booking.com don't seem to have transfers included in the package.

Depends on what you want to do with your sim.

If you intend to use grab or uber... then better get a sim which can call+ sms+4G

For data plan, see your usage and pay accordingly

http://prepaid-data-sim-card.wikia.com/wiki/Vietnam

My recommendation....
Get basic prepaid sim for around 50-60k and top-up 50K voucher.
After that activate 1.5GB data plan for around 70k.
You will still have around 30K value left for you to make simple calls and sms, just in case
