airport's tourist sim card price gets higher as you move north.

at tan son nhat, the lowest is around 105k.

at danang new terminal, it's 7 usd.

at noi bai, 9 usd.

That's why just get a regular sim. And then go to a familymart or circle K to add value.

If you get Viettel...Download the app. You can add value from there.

most singaporeans prefer to either roam (cheap roaming almost non-existent) or get from the airport.

i stopped getting that wifi egg from changi airport... had several experiences whereby it just doesn't work once i reach that country. complete waste of money

in the end, had to spend extra $$$ to get a local data sim, which work perfectly. and even if it doesn't work... I can easily get help from their local telco

Thinking of planning a backpacking trip to Da Nang,Hue,Hoi An> Ninh Binh > Hanoi in Aug.
Either this route or Hanoi , Sa Pa , Halong Bay (bad time to go in Aug due to bad weather??)

Any experienced backpackers done this trip before? If so can share your itinerary?

Did some of my own research and thinking of taking up local motorbike tours around scenic spots in central ,sounds really interesting.

From there thought of taking a train from central to the north for the additional adventure but might consider otherwise after seeing so many bad reviews of the train journeys posted online. Anyone tried it care to share ?

Nothing is concrete yet just toying with a few ideas of going on a grand tour to Vietnam after I chanced upon articles of other peoples trip from north to south Vietnam . As for Budget and duration I am flexible , not a concern yet.
Not really looking into HCM since I have already been there.

depends on which part of vietnam. vietnam is such a long country.

was in hanoi in august. very hot and humid. clear weather mostly until cumulus clouds buildup at around 4-5pm. then came the freak thunderstorm strong enough to fall trees and cut power lines. this cycle repeated everyday when i was there.

typhoons usually come to vietnam towards the end of season. during mid season such as month of august, typhoons usually appear in higher latitudes and hit taiwan and japan.

places in the central and central north such as danang and hue should be avoided after september. the north east monsoon starts and brings incessant rain to these places.
